[Merged] N/S- Henry Ruggs car accident in Vegas (update from old thread) (1 Viewer)

you can bank on it this video will be used in court by the prosecution if there is a trial at all.

I'm expecting a guilty/no contest plea, 20 yrs with fries, possible parole with probation for the duration after serving 2-3 yrs in the slammer..and this is his BEST bet.

If they try to plea anything else and this goes to trial...he doing a HARD 10-20 easy in the big house with insane probation extending out past 20.

In both cases that bank account will be wiped out understandably (most people don't set up irrevocable trusts and dump everything into it while they are alive) and he can forget about having a drivers license ever again in his life.

I don't think that video would be admissible.

But you're right that it's highly unlikely there will be a trial. I suspect they will work about a plea agreement based on sentencing . . . but the judge doesn't have to accept it.

Also, I think all of the leverage is with the prosecution, Ruggs defense has very little to work with.

I saw a blurb yesterday from his lawyers asking the community to reserve judgement until all the facts come out. I could never be a defense lawyer.

Yeah, I think you have to view those statements as the attorney's interest to the client and the client alone.

looks like they found a loaded weapon in his vehicle too

Court records show that Clark County prosecutors now intend to charge the once-promising football player with additional counts of DUI and reckless driving — both resulting in substantial bodily harm — and possession of a firearm while under the influence, a misdemeanor.

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that he was potentially looking at a maximum 46 years in prison. Looking more like he'll never play football again. Hopefully this serves as a warning to other players to take drinking and driving more seriously.

He is going to be the face of rookie camp seminars for years to come

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me at all. As terrible as his actions were, I still feel bad for him because he's probably never going to play football again and the opportunities he could have had are gone. Just brutal.

It does suck, but if what I read was correct and his actions caused a person and a dog to be burned alive, I can’t bring myself to feel too badly for him.
