How do you like the Bryan Bresee pick?

As far as Saints 1st round picks go I can get behind this selection. It makes sense. The need for disruption up front cannot be overstated. They needed a disruptive force at DT and that's what they got.

They used the free SP pick on a high risk/high reward top 10 talent. They swung for the fences and I don't blame them. They didn't overthink this pick. They had a big time need at DT and they're gambling on big time talent.
Don’t think he’s a top ten talent but agree with the rest of your post. Here’s to hoping. 😊
Got negative reviews for this but just stating facts when I say his production fell off the cliff after his freshman year. It’s literally in the scouting reports, lack of production. That worries me.

Injuries to lower body and upper body don’t look good for playing time. It was still an injury. He was playing injured from the shoulder surgery before the ACL. I am cheering the young man on now but let’s be real
Then Cam Jordan is injury prone based on your logic… every offseason we hear about some surgery he had to repair something or clean something up…

Just to make sure I understand your point here… Men should not ever get injured playing football or they are injured playing football?

I suppose my point is that based on physical talent, football ability and potential alone, to me he is in the Top 10 draft pick range for a DT.

He is not a top ten DT pick, and wasn't drafted there, for a number of reasons including the injury history, which led to perhaps a stop-start college resume and up and down production. I posited that had he been healthy for 3 years and not had some of the personal/family issues, his productivity would/should more closely have matched the talent, and he would have been picked in the top 10. I could be wrong.

At least we all heard of Clemson :melike:

No. If it is reoccurring it causes you to miss practices and games then you can call it whatever you want. The best ability is availability. Percy Harvin had Migraines. That wasn’t a football injury. It cost him a longer career.
So Breese has migraines or reoccurring kidney infections??? Which desk are you slamming your fist on?

If you play football, you will get injured… hopefully, it’s not major injuries like knee ligament but somethings are just unfortunate and not an indicator that someone is guna be injured all the time.

Not EVERY injury means a player is injury prone.

Lastly, this dude is VERY talanted, if it wouldn’t be for these question marks, he would have NEVER made it to 29. So yea, there’s a little gamble here, he could be injury prone ORRRRRR it could have been bad luck and circumstances and we got a stuf.

Time will tell

New Orleans Saints

Draft pick

Analysis: The Saints gave up their first-rounder in this year's draft in a trade with the Eagles prior to last year’s draft. New Orleans used draft capital from that trade to move up for Chris Olave last year. Olave’s a fine player, but the Eagles have to feel good about that deal right now. New Orleans received a first-round pick from Denver for former head coach Sean Payton, though, using that pick on Bresee. I’m not sure he will be an elite player, but Bresee is the sort of interior player the Saints needed. Hopefully he will be able to put some of the injury woes he dealt with in college behind him.

Agree with their assessment, on all fronts.

It’s amazing how some people on this board are.

A guy has played football for around 13 years and had TWO injuries in the same season, these injuries are the only injuries he’s ever had in the game in all 13 years.

Yet this board says he’s an injury waiting to happen, not all, but a good bit.

The truth is a large amount of posters don’t do anything but listen to the word injury and start posting, at least read up on the guy so you can understand how ridiculous you sound.

I understand the sentiment but it’s not just “some people on this board.”

It’s literally in most of the scouting write ups I’ve read. I’ll copy two, could do 20 tho.

Unfortunately, Cam seems to be the only player on our D-line that can stay on the field. So, we are sensitive to guys that may have injury problems, and I don't even want to talk about Penning.

Wonderful point, it’s such a big deal here yearly, we are shell shocked. Cumulative. I also feel like the best ability is availability.
I really feel like the team is cursed, as are the Pels.

Not sure we could’ve asked for much more. Highly rated player, need position and we didn’t have to trade up.
Exactly, with the Panthers taking Young and the Failcons taking Robinson, the Saints needed a defensive tackle to help in the middle. Especially those teams that we are playing twice a season.

He was the best player available at that position.

Nolan Smith is undersized and doesn't fit the defensive scheme. The Saints got gashed in the run game last season.

2020:
255 pass rush snaps
4 sacks
6 QB hits
16 hurries

2021:
203 pass rush snaps
3 sacks
4 QB hits
17 hurries
I think this scouting report helps to resolve a lot of worry about him being picked. Top 15 pick and potential starter as a rookie sounds good to me.

I like the pick. We had a glaring need for an interior defender, and we snagged a talented player for the role at the back of the first round.
