Eagles getting J. Carter with our original 1st rd pick hurts. We needed interior DL help and they got the best one in the draft with our pick fresh off a SB appearance.

Loomis really screwed the pooch trying to force upgrading two positions in the 1st rd last season. I still think that it was a terrible idea considering that the team had no starting QB.

It's perfectly valid for people to be concerned about his injury history, particularly since some perfectly respectable sources have questioned whether he was the same player after coming back from the ACL.

We've just sat through five years of Marcus Davenport failing to live up to his potential because of one injury after another. The same is seemingly being played out again with Turner....

That's why people are concerned. He could be the second coming of Reggie White but that's not much good if he's not on the field.

I'm more concerned about his weaknesses vrs the run where he gets turned too easily and just gets washed out by double teams....hopefully this is Coachable stuff.

I expected us to take I expected us to draft Bresee and I like the pick.

I'm not the type to borrow trouble so I won't worry about injury history right now.

BTW I watched the draft for the second year via the Pat McAfee Show and again, it was far more entertaining than the NFL broadcast. Laughed alot and Red Panda was awesome.

A lot of people who post the most are chronically cynical about anything the Saints do. Reading the posts about the pick you'd think most people on the board actually hate this pick but if you look at poll it's the opposite.

The people who hate pick are the same people who hate Loomis, D.A., PC, Carr, rebuilding, not rebuilding, etc etc etc....
And they never shut up. no other opinion will be tolerated.

New Orleans Saints

Draft pick

Analysis: The Saints gave up their first-rounder in this year's draft in a trade with the Eagles prior to last year’s draft. New Orleans used draft capital from that trade to move up for Chris Olave last year. Olave’s a fine player, but the Eagles have to feel good about that deal right now. New Orleans received a first-round pick from Denver for former head coach Sean Payton, though, using that pick on Bresee. I’m not sure he will be an elite player, but Bresee is the sort of interior player the Saints needed. Hopefully he will be able to put some of the injury woes he dealt with in college behind him.

Agree with their assessment, on all fronts.
On all fronts? Olave is more than a “fine” player

they traded up for Carter.

Regardless I’d take Bresee and Olave over Carter any day

Pulling for him to be what he was hyped to be at Clemson prior to injury.... On the surface this looks like another "I am smarter than you, and this is our guy, and he will be healthy for us" kinda pick we have been making way too often.... with better players on the board when we took him (I honestly think we could have gotten him at 40)... that comes back to bite us in the arse.... Once again, I'll hope for the best... and hope he bucks the trend and becomes a healthy 10 year stud starter fore us in the middle. For now, I am "Meh"... with fingers crossed to be completely wrong.

I agree. I like the pick, but the injury concern is a valid one.

The fact that Jalen Carter dropped to them tells me what I need to know. His arrest in January, showing up at workouts out of shape tells me he is lazy and not focused.

He will probably do well in Philly due to the fact he has familiar faces around him and also because there are good players around him to hide his weakness ( just like at Georgia).

I don't think Carter would have done well at other places where he had to be " the guy."

As far as trading with the Eagles, it was done before the Eagles made good off their trades and got players to make them a Super Bowl contender. ( This was made before they got Brown in trade w/ Titans and got the other 2 Georgia guys last year).
Saints needed an elite WR due to 2 years of inactivity from Mike Thomas and there was a run on them by the time Saints picked.

Saints also needed a LT desperately. Olave looks to be a homerun hit . Jury still out on Penning but he will be a starter ( barring another rash of injuries )

So hindsight is 20-20 . A lot of people will crown Philly the Draft winners based off who they picked last night,
They still have to play and who knows, Philly could suffer thru some injuries this upcoming season.
