How do you like the Bryan Bresee pick?

Maybe.

For those with the negative responses, I'm not talking about the shot after they made the pick and she hugged DA. When ESPN first came back from a break they showed the Saints war room and she was day dreaming, looked bored. What that means, I don't know, but I saw it, thought it and posted it before the pick. This thread was up before the pick happened on ESPN (thanks for the spoiler OP). I certainly wasn't saying she doesn't care, she just looked that way. It was a long day and night I'm sure.

Don't love it. Don't hate it.

We were picking for need. Had he not been picked by Cincinnati, Myles Murphy would have been the pick. After Murphy was picked, we were going with Bresee or Keion White, who is still a possibility at 40.

I admittedly remain irritated that our trade last year with Philadelphia has helped the Eagles become the NFC's dominant team. Howie Roseman is killing it.

Incidentally, in their final mock drafts, both Peter King and Bucky Burns did not show Bresee as a first-round selection. In his final top 150 list, Daniel Jeremiah had Bresee rated at 36. However, Bucky Burns in an earlier ranking of players by position had Bresee ranked as the second best defensive tackle, and Pro Football Focus (which I often disagree with) had Bresee ranked as its 21st best player.

And finally, Walter Football gave the Bresee pick a C, one of its lowest grades. However, Walter Football can be a joke in its outrageous opinions and seems these days to dislike the Saints very much because the team refuses to tear down and rebuild.

I want to love the pick, but we’ve been so snake bit with injuries it’s hard to not focus on the injury history.

Snake bit implies bad luck. This is not that. When you place almost no emphasis on availability. Constantly searching for FAs and draft picks who slide because of…..injury histories, you can’t be too shocked that you are in a never ending battle with the IR army. We continually lead the league in games lost due to injury and/or most starters in a season. We never learn.

This is the most insanely Saints pick possible.

Hopefully this one outruns his history.

He was high on the TE Mayer from Notre Dame
not a shocker for an X QB to want to ignore a major defensive weakness In favor of an offensive weapon. He’s not technically wrong, it’s just a difference in philosophy. But we were and still are, thin on the DL.

It wasn't just his sister passing that affected his 2022 production, it was the strength loss from the kidney infection. That information is easily accessible with a Google search.
I’m sold. Let’s all sign up for blind optimism and be thankful for the kidney infection so he could under perform last year and fall to us at 29!

P.S. I’m not being sarcastic that actually would impact your strength and the system he was in didn’t attract a bunch of stats. If he put up big numbers last year he wouldn’t have been there at 29. I’m optimistic, he’s got big upside

DTs tend to take longer than any other position to mature into their prime. Even 1st rounders. I look forward to this kid turning into a great player but dread the inevitable flood of posts asking why he's not blowing people up his rookie season.
BS. TE, QB, WR, S, OT, LB. DT is as plug n play as it gets in the NFL

We could’ve traded 40 and a future high pick to move up for Bresee, while Mayer and Porter were still there.

I’m holding out hope we move up from 40 to get one of those two that we left on the board.
I would love either of them, but at the same time I'm hoping that the Saints can sit tight at 40 and land LB Drew Sanders. His athleticism, production and versatility really intrigue me. He can play ILB position as well as rush from the edge.
