Apparently he's from Maryland.

I want to love the pick, but we’ve been so snake bit with injuries it’s hard to not focus on the injury history. I really just wanted to draft a guy with a clean bill of health lol

2021 - ACL tear
2022 - Kidney infection
2022 - Shoulder surgery

That’s a not the injury history you want to see in a R-Sophmore first round pick
I would not include the kidney infection. But yeah, two connective tissue related surgeries are too many for a first round pick when we have suffered injury issues thebpast couple of years. 15 tackles in 10 games his final year is an issue. Even with his sister's issue and lack of focus due to it, he could have fallen into that many. Can you find another player drafted in the 1st round that plays any position except WR with that little production his final year while playing 10 games
No. There aren't any. I hope he can return to his freshman form and be a beast. I am pulling for him and not hating on him.

So is that why he had 15 total tackles in 10 games his final year?
Yes.

Not being back to 100% from his ACL will do that. It seems (anecdotally, at least) that most players take 2 years to get back to full potential from ACL injuries. They can usually play after that first year but it takes another year or so (depending on the individual) to get his mobility and burst back to full functionality.

It's not like you push a button and immediately you're fully back. Full recovery takes time even after you're cleared to play.

Also, time lost in 2022 due to lil sis having an 18 month battle with cancer which she unfortunately lost.

Two points. 1) DA knows D. The fact that he likes him means a lot. It means he’ll be an impact player, and soon. He could’ve been drafted at 15 and I wouldn’t have been surprised. DA hasn’t missed on ANY players he’s brought in. Even the sketchiest player, Davenport, we lost in FA. Not to mention Street, Tuttle, OYA, Ellis. The man knows D. If you’re fair in judging ppl then you have defer to the pros on this one. Be happy today. Allow yourself. Lol. 2) We had the 29th pick in the first round! Not a top 10 pick, the freaking last pick in round one, (almost) And we still walked out with a potential star.

Pick fills a need. There is reason to believe that the player has more upside than what he showed in the last year due to hardships in his family life and the scheme Clemson used. There is a bit of jealously looking at the Eagles picks knowing if we had not made the trades last year we could conceivably had the two players they drafted with our original pick and the Sean Payton pick which by most reasonable standards won draft day. We don't live in that world but it smarts in a way of watching the top team in our conference take full advantage of what we provided. As an organization the clear need was defensive line. It just hurts that the best defensive tackle in the draft went to the team using the draft capital we gave them that was in hindsight higher than the pick they gave us. Olave is a top talent, but I cannot help but see the Eagles running out the championship Georgia defense in the NFL and wish it was the Saints.

It wasn't just his sister passing that affected his 2022 production, it was the strength loss from the kidney infection. That information is easily accessible with a Google search.

What pick was the 2023 1st when it was traded before the 2022 draft?

2020:
255 pass rush snaps
4 sacks
6 QB hits
16 hurries

2021:
203 pass rush snaps
3 sacks
4 QB hits
17 hurries

No. If it is reoccurring it causes you to miss practices and games then you can call it whatever you want. The best ability is availability. Percy Harvin had Migraines. That wasn’t a football injury. It cost him a longer career.
Is a kidney infection an injury?
