Yeah he got benched in Cleveland too. Love him as a person, seems to be a great teammate, he isn’t a good QB.
As I said before, one of my buddies at work believe that the Browns would have probably beaten Cincy and Miami with Winston starting, which would have killed their draft placement. The Browns were losing just fine with Winston at QB. He went 2-5, with the last 3 games all losses, throwing 8 INTs to 6 TDs.
At some point, we need to start having football real conversations. They went 0-3 facing the #3, #8, and #4 defenses in the NFL and they were competitive 2 of the 3 games. The Bengals had one of the worst defenses in the NFL this season and the Dolphins defense declined the last 5-6 weeks of the season, giving up an average 250 yards passing per game and multiple pass TDs per game, while being bad on offense. The Dolphin best game on pass defense during that stretch came against the Browns and Robinson. Crap, during Winston's starts, we are the only defense that the Browns faced that wasn't a top 10 defense and he torched us. If you think the Browns beating the Bengals and Dolphins "is almost certainly not true," you weren't watching football this season.Jameis Winston was 0-3 with 8 INTs in his last three starts before getting benched.
The idea that he was going to beat the Bengals and Dolphins is almost certainly not true.
Jameis is actually an amazing QB. The problem is, he's also a horrible QB. Usually in the same game.Yeah he got benched in Cleveland too. Love him as a person, seems to be a great teammate, he isn’t a good QB.
I don't see why anyone would pick us. No $ to spend for anything. Unless it's a complete tear down and rebuild. So Loomis still gets to stay?If we don't send him an invitation, then Loomis needs to be shown the door. If we sent him an invite and he turned it down, that's another thing entirely.
It's gonna be five years from now, and you're still going to be trying to convince people Jameis Winston isn't an average backup QB. There's always an excuse. At some point, we need to start having football real conversations. They went 0-3 facing the #3, #8, and #4 defenses in the NFL and they were competitive 2 of the 3 games. Who said anything about an excuse? You made a statement and I just showed you that your statement didn't really fly if you actually looked at games. You can call Winston whatever you want but the fact remained that it was a good chance that with him starting, they could win 2 of the 3 final games of the season, as the Bengals are one of the worst defenses in the league, the Dolphins defense was declining, and he has already beaten the Ravens. Your feelings about him doesn't change or affects what actually happens on the field. Like I said, your feelings aside, going 0-3, they faced 3 top 10 defenses (2 top 5) and were competitive in 2 of the 3 games. The problem is most people don't care about those small details because they like to prove or push a point but actually watching the games tell us otherwise. He was benched so the Browns can get a top 5 pick and everyone with common sense knows this. It's gonna be five years from now, and you're still going to be trying to convince people Jameis Winston isn't an average backup QB. If Browns fans want him as the starter next year, good luck to them.
Probably avoiding being turned down publicly.Underhill seems to think we won’t even interview Ben.
WTF
Agree that he was benched for tanking reasons. Don't agree that he'd beat the Bengals, maybe, MAYBE the Dolphins. And I watched football this season. And I'm a Winston supporter but with less confidence than before. My confidence in him took a hit last season against the Lions when Carr got knocked out of the game and Winston was setup to finish a great comeback. At the game, I told my neighbor that Winston will step up and shut up a lot of non-believers. He didn't and looked bad and that was with good protection and open receivers. Still love the guy, but he's had many, many chances. I'd rate him as a low-level, inconsistent starter that flashes and disappoints equally well.Who said anything about an excuse? As I stated, he wasn't benched because Robinson gave them the best chance to win and the fact that the offense got drastically worse should let everyone know that...lol. Again, it's really not that deep and pretty much a common sense thing.
Great is a stretch, he was a great secondary coach and a solid D coordinator. He had 4 years where he had a top 10 scoring D from 2016-2024I live in Kentucky with lots of Bengals fans. I told them to hire Dennis Allen as their Defensive coordinator. Despite the hate for DA he was a great DC and could really help their team next year.
