NFL/NBA now have a Donald Sterling problem with Gayle Benson (2 Viewers)

Rodney is a good man and also my neighbor. He had worked for Benson since he was a teenager. After Katina, he quit since Benson was going to move the team to San Antonio. Benson personally hired him back after the Super Bowl. Go back and look at pictures of Benson and Rodney is always with him. He took of Benson long before Gayle showed up.

Why would someone downthumb this post?

Unless Rodney has video or audio proving his allegation, it is simply that, an allegation. If his living conditions were so deplorable, why did he not take some pictures of his little bunk bed with no amenities as evidence?

I'm waiting....chirp....chirp

I'm sorry, in my non-legal opinion, this seems like a money grab to me.

Why would someone downthumb this post?

I got down thumbed for answering a question about how someone might consider what Gayle supposedly said could be construed as racist. I quit trying to figure out, or caring for that matter, why people thumb the way they do. I actually find it kinda comical at times as if maybe they think they're hurting my feelings... As if I had any to begin with. :D

read through the first few pages... every post assumes guilt?

TO me, it is much more likely that a disgruntled ex-employee is doing exactly what ex-employees do.

Equality for all --- except for the rich -- they already have enough??? Right?

How old is Gayle Benson? How many times in her very long life has she been accused of anything like this? Yet the first thought from the majority - is she has ruined her chance to own this team?

So, this guy sided with the 3Rs and they got rid of him. First question - which of you wouldn't fire your long time assistant when they turned their back you? Second question - was any of this mentioned in the first lawsuit for unpaid overtime?

We used to be innocent until proven guilty in this country, now it just depends on who is accused and who is the accuser.

hi y'all;

i'm still wondering where the idea of the nfl "not approving" the "transfer" of ownership? the rules i've found have nothing on inheritance needing approval of anybody. selling to another party comes under the rules, but not inheritance. so, unless benson "sells" the team to gayle(which is ridiculous), no action. rita will still never get her hands on the team.

where did this start? did the originator of this "rumor" offer any substantiating info?

i'd be skeptical of the racist charge & lawsuit. timing is suspect, but w/out further info, it's all speculation. hopefully a quick resolution is possible.

bonne chance!

I think that gets lost in this, is first off, he was fired, so he's rightfully upset and trying to protect himself. Lawyers always paint a picture harsher than it is, because that's their job to frame the world in their side of the argument.

From the family perspective, you could very well have a guy who thinks he's doing the right thing by Mr. Benson, but was over stepping his bounds and ticking off Mrs. Benson. Why would she be angry that he took him to the hospital? Was it a false alarm? Did they have instructions to call his personal doctor first due to the surgery issues? Remember, he had a series of issues two years ago. Was she set on being the one to help decide and to know? It's hard to say.

Was he trying to help mend the family fences when he shouldn't have been?

the road to hell is paved with good intentions

We don't have to demonize anyone to prove there was a problem one way or the other.

Oh you can bet that if we were still in the midst of Bountygate this would've been plastered on every news outlet headline link you clicked.

Louisiana is a right-to-work state. Unless he had a personal services contract with the Bensons, he can be terminated with no explanation from the employer.

"We're making a change and your services are no longer required."

That's it. History.

His request for back pay needs to be addressed in any personal services contract (if one existed) he and the Bensons agreed upon.

The accusation of racial slurs is just that; an accusation. If he has audio/video/written correspondence to corroborate this claim, then that is an entirely different matter.
