Payton on being one of the least injured teams in the NFL (47 Viewers)

I'm just curious as to where you got your psychology degree and how long Loomis has been your patient.

I have a Master's Degree in a mental health discipline. I have a 35-year career in organizational management and administration. I taught graduate school classes for 7 years. Not in sports or at the asset level of a football team, but I would caution you against going after my qualifications. What you got, sir?

The Saints coaches and training staff are the ones who manage player health pre-injury. The GM is not managing them well because this is a many seasons-trend and it may be a training staff issue. (On top of turf field and poor daily routine).

Ochsner and the doctors come in after the injuries.

The GM is clueless and years-late when he says they need to take a deep dive and it might be coincidence.

Any of us could research best practices and the track records of head trainers. Why hasn't Mickey? These players are assets worth millions of dollars - and the front office has destroyed the financial margins to have truly adequate depth, but we're supposed to say ho hum bad luck? McCoy got injured and welp, season died. Great job Mick!

He did bring in the guy from Alabama who was supposed to be an amazing and innovative nutrition, sports fitness, and Strength and Conditioning guy a couple years ago. https://www.neworleanssaints.com/ne...rector-sport-science-university-alabama-staff

So it's not like they have not tried to fix the issue. But, it obviously did not work so it seems to be time for change.

Oh no, a poster is heavily criticizing the incompetent GM, with facts and opinions.

Run for the hills everybody.

Lol. Dude, you mention Loomis in virtually every post you make. And sometimes you go back and edits posts to talk more about Loomis and add reasons why he sucks.

Loomis has many issues and you have every right to point them out. Moreover, you are right about most of your criticisms of Loomis. But I do find it amusing that you talk about Payton living in Loomis' head when Loomis clearly lives in your head.

Is this a problem for you?

I've been here posting for 21 years and Loomis is very much at the top of my mind right now. My mind is always in org management. I have no patience for incompetence and lack of accountability given everyone here's emotional and time investment, and for many - their personal financial expense in the team.

Big picture:

Loomis failed to get us an adequate QB for post-Brees. He's done to the salary cap what JD Vance does to a couch. We are coachless because his last choice proved himself unqualified AGAIN! The roster is a mess. Pick any unit on the team and find me a competitive unit - starters and depth. 4 years of herpa derpa and injuries. We got our current QB from the Raiders' dumpster, and now we might go get a coach from the Cowboys dumpster. LAZY!!

Not a problem. You do you. I just find it amusing especially when your response is yet another rant about Loomis.

I don't think Payton was referencing the Saints organization in any way. I believe he has firmly put that chapter of his coaching career in the rearview. And what good would come of bashing a team that he is three years removed from. We as Saints fans tend to look into things with former players and coaches that fit our narrative and at times, guilty as charged.

No, I think he was talking about the former Broncos coaching staff and their culture and their procedures and what he has done to help them.

Payton doesn't care about the Saints anymore so we should stop caring about what Payton says. Yes, it was a nice interview before the Saints/Broncos game and his time in New Orleans but he is a Bronco now. As they say, he gone...........
its because we are all wounded dogs right now. The slightest provocation causes an attack. its tough being a fan right now. Because in the real world, if im down, i do something about it and change my direction. As a fan, we cant do anything but wait and hope. Regardless if he meant anything by it or not, we fielded an embarrassingly injured team against him and many others this year.

Terrific. Every time I rant on Loomis, I will expect a post from you saying how amused you are.

His first public criticism of the Saints was the organizations lack of having his back against the refs. Saying the ownership in Denver would be better in that situation.
Not sure if it's the ownership or the market, but there's a lot of truth in this -- there are some teams that get the calls and some that don't. I moved to Denver back in 1997, and I can truly tell you that the Broncos are one of the teams that get the calls, and we all know the Saints are one of the teams that don't.

Im seeing the team very similarly, thats why we need a complete overhaul and is why im in favor of bringing in Mike. He will get us back to being a 12 win team probably starting next year. If he can win with Cooper Rush and Dak, he can win with Carr and Rattler. He knows how to assemble an entire team from to bottom. He's seen it, and been doing it for almost 2 decades. He's the only coach (available) that I feel can compete with the likes of SP and Reid at their best. Just for the record, after watching Ben Johnson's interviews, im more sold on Glenn than him. I think AG is more ready than Ben. Ben seems like he needs another year to figure out a plan. But regardless, Glenn is going to the Jets. IF Glenn as HC for the Saints: We have so many unknowns at this point, adding another unknown as a coach, seems like a 3-4 year build, if it works. Add Big Mike and we're competing and trending up next year.

The Saints, whether real or perceived, have certainly had issues on the medical side over the years. My question, is whether that is a conditioning/fitness thing controlled by the strength and conditioning staff, or is it a treatment/PT/diagnosis/medical thing controlled by the team doctors/therapists. I assume the issues are a combination of factors but have never been sure where there real gripes are coming form. It seems most of the player gripes over the years (MT/Delvin Breaux) seemed to be more directed at Ochsner and team doctors. I'm just trying to better understand the issue. Saw Benson just renewed her contract with Ochsner. Wonder what Sean Payton would think about that.
i think its like this. Do you blame the mechanic or the guy that ran his car without oil and burned up the engine. Its preventative maintenance. And Sean was saying, that he made his team enjoy the tedious maintenance project. By ranting to his team all the time, that they are in a side competition to win the least injured team award. He turned it into a competitive fun game if you will. And that's why hes a great coach and a leader of men. He knows how to push buttons..

Donā€™t take it personally, he talks down to everyone. Hopefully it makes him feel better. šŸ˜Š

Iā€™d love to have Mike, and have felt we needed a top down overhaul since Sean left.

Not gonna happen, is what it is. Hopefully the team drafts well in a couple of months, then again next draft as I think we will have an even higher pick. That will be a start at least.

Thatā€™s the point. Heā€™s saying itā€™s an organizational issue when it comes to injuries.
Some years ago wasn't there a cost-cutting move by the Saints to get a less-expensive sports medicine group? I'm thinking like 12-15 years ago and also thinking that cheaper ain't always better, especially when it comes to talent with contracts in excess of 100 million dollars.
