Payton Turner has turf toe; placed on IR 9/13 (week to week as of 12/8 per Underhill) (3 Viewers)

Foskey needs the development time. Will hurt our run defense a bit but Kpas is a fine run defender on the edge as his snaps will increase.

With Bresee playing the way he is you can give those inside snaps in sub packages that Kpas was playing to him.

it’ll balance out. Feel for the kid but it’s a long season. He’ll come in handy late..hopefully

It was posted by somebody that Turner only had seven snaps yesterday before the injury. If that’s true, the defense dominated with an almost inconsequential impact from him. I hate it that he’s injured, first and foremost, for his sake, but the defense is going to have to make the most of the other players on the roster, something that, unfortunately, had a high likelihood of happening. I don’t blame him - some players just have trouble staying healthy - but he can’t be relied on at this level unless he can ever play enough to ease those concerns.

I feel bad for the guy but not too bad. If never signs another contract he'll have made enough money sitting in an ice bath to set himself up nicely.

I wish him luck but I'm over the guy. Maybe Mn. will want him. He and Davenport can keep each other company on the injured list.

Granderson should be signed to an extension before the next practice. We can't lose him to FA like Hendrickson.
Been screaming Carl’s praises forever now. This dude constantly puts in the work and produces when his number is called. How can we not mold him to be the guy is beyond me?!?!

Gregory Rousseau was selected 2 picks after we took Turner. I’m not buying that statement.
Davenport was somewhat of a "project."
Henrickson was a project.

Turner has been productive when he has played, so I'm not sure he really was a project.
He just can't stay on the field.

Truth be told they are all projects because 90% of them aren't NFL ready.

Turner is Dav 2.0 sadly.

Meanwhile Granderson is putting on a clinic in his contract year and will be a Trey Hendrickson 2.0 situation.
Exactly what I was thinking. Granderson (in a short, one game sample) is looking like a Beast. They need to be working on resigning the guy now, before he balls out and we won't be able to afford him.

This isn’t bad. He needs reps. He needs to bulk a little. I guarantee he will make ppl feel different. He’s slight right now. The more he plays, the more he will learn how to use his strengths. Three preseason games playing with mediocre lineman next to him isn’t going to be a good enough measurement to determine his value. If he gets 10 snaps next game, they should all be on passing situations.
I'm struggling to see any positives of Turner being out for the guts of this season. He's light years ahead of Foskey right now. It may be good for Foskey's development to be involved, but for the team as a whole, this is a negative. Whether Foskey develops and how quickly are question marks whereas Turner was a bona fide contributor to a strong rotation. While it's too early to definitively evaluate Foskey, I'm comfortable in saying that barely holding your own against mediocre, back up LT's is not a recipe to success against starting LT's, certainly not in the timeframe of this next 10 games.

So yes, this is bad.

I think the issue is that Turner wasn’t going to be able to stay on the field regardless, so better to develop someone else.

If Turner goes on IR, do they bring up someone from PS or go on the FA market?

Well, I don't think that it was inevitable that he got injured again and if he did, that it was something requiring surgery, and in the first game. Possible certainly, probable perhaps, but absolutely certain, no - otherwise why wasn't he just cut a couple of weeks ago?

And while your argument has a perverse logic, I'm not comfortable with the notion that it's good that Turner got injured because, now that he's injured, we don't have to bother with him anymore and worry about him getting injured - and don't worry, we have a guy who's not injured but isn't as good or ready to produce right now and may never even develop.
