Peter King's Top 5 Michael Vick destinations (guess who is #1) (1 Viewer)

Maybe I'm not being clear ... from what I'm gathering King believes when Vick comes into the game at QB it would be a run more often than not. How often does Ronnie Brown throw the ball? 5% of the time he takes the snap? The 5% would be after successful draws when the defense started to creep up. Those plays w/o Vick on the team would have been runs so Brees would not lose any pass attempts in a given game.

As for no NFL experience playing RB I'd counter he's played RB every year he's been in the NFL. :)

Vick is not a better running back than Reggie or PT. It doesnt make sense to sign him in that role either.

why bring in a distraction? he would hurt more than help, especially in the PR dept..

But he's a MUCH better passer than both. Which makes the wildcat truly work ... again this is King thinking out loud and I personally disagree (as I've posted earlier) but it's not the dumbest idea ever and it doesn't HAVE to cut into Bree's throwing the ball.

min salary with incentives and short leash. i think the overall public wouldnt like it. prob would lose some fan base

the more i think about it:

I hate vick but my love for winning is far more than my hate fro vick. I was even opposed to him even being allowed back in the NFL but with all the saints talk, I have to wonder.

At a really low new contract, would you not want him as a backup? I cant say I would (its not in my vocab to say i want vick), but he is better than mark or joey. Also, reggie has not finished a season the last 2 years...could he play duel backup roles? i hate the idea of wildcat, but i kinda like the backup idea

Anyone that comes with less baggage and makes less than $10 million is better than Vick. He's been out of football for 2 years and even when he was in, he was a lousy passer. The Saints offense relys on a good passing QB, not a half RB/QB.

You seriously think he is going to get that much money from anyone? I'd be surprised if he did....really surprised. Right now he knows that is he gets a chance with any team in the NFL its by the good graces of God. So..I doubt he will be remotely asking for that much money....let alone getting it.

I hate to admit it but....I concur.

The "number 1 offense is sooo overated.....The main reason we have the #1 offense is because we pass so much late in games trying to catch up.

Um....points scored.....yards....we have the #1 offense because.....we do! So what if we throw more than other teams? We are a pass offense first......playing catch up or in the lead...we throw. I'd say...the "number 1 offense" is pretty spot on.

Yes it does have to cut into Brees throwing the ball, unless the Saints go with an even less favorable run to pass ratio (which doesnt seem possible). There are a limited number of passing plays we can run each game. If you give Vick throwing opportunities, then by definition Brees is losing opportunities because he is not getting 100% of the throws.

Coach Payton explicitly said that the Saints offense has less interest in the wildcat than any other team in the NFL. Out of 32 teams, we are the least inclined to use the wildcat according to the head coach. That should have ended this discussion.

I ask this to you...seriously...I just want to know what you think...

As far as backup QB's in the NFL right now that are available.....who's better? I can't think of too many.....in fact....is there anyone better?

if Brees gets hurt,Vick isnt the player to take his spot with our current playbook

Back up role it is then! really though, i think if he is evaluated and cleared to play we could find him a place on the team. its unfortunate, but injuries happen and how nice would it be to have a guy who can make plays at qb and rb at an elite level there if something happens. im not saying he could even be close to brees in running the offense, but he could still be a very productive player in the nfl and he can definately win games.

i have to stop now before i would start wanting vick. right now, i can just say i could see the fit
