The idea that I keep seeing posted over and over ad nauseum is that Vick has to take snaps away from Brees. That's a poor argument. King is suggesting that Vick's snaps would be runs, end arounds, throwbacks, etc so you're not taking passes away from Drew Brees (perhaps a fake run and throw over the top) you're taking runs and gimmick plays away from the rest of the offense.

Brees and Vick cant both throw the ball. If its a passing play, it will have to be Brees or Vick throwing the ball. If Vick throws the ball, then Brees is not throwing it. Therefore it is one less throw for Brees. It makes no sense to ever have Vick throw instead of Brees. It makes even less sense to use Vick purely as a WR or RB, he has no NFL experience at those positions. He's not a better WR than Colston or Moore. He's not a better RB than Reggie or PT. He's not a better QB than Brees. There is literally no use for Michael Vick on the Saints team.

Coach Payton specifically said that the Saints have the lowest level of interest in the wildcat offense out of any team in the NFL. The reason why? "That's just because I want Brees to be getting the snaps all the time."

Drew Brees in the game = huge threat to pass. This opens up the draw and to an extent normal running lanes. There's no reason to get cute with Vick given his history and salary. It's bad for the team and image. Send him to cincinnati with the other convicts or to Cleveland to mix his herpes in with the Staph Rotation imo.

Wow...it's a huge compliement for our team/organization/coach that people put us on top of that list.
I agree I do not see how he'd fit....but, if he can return punts like Reggie.....I feel he's (or was) as explosive as Reggie when returning them....let him do that....and maybe 1 or 2 wildcats a game.

I think the guy is a total scumbag and wouldn't want him associated with us. But my God....just SP must be thinking to himself of all the nutty things he could do. Just crazy stuff. Even if it's only for his own copy of Madden '10 in his living room LOL.

No one is going to trade for Vick at his current salary. Not even for a conditional 7th rounder pick or for "future considerations."

I think all these articles assume he will be cut and become a free agent.

Maybe I'm not being clear ... from what I'm gathering King believes when Vick comes into the game at QB it would be a run more often than not. How often does Ronnie Brown throw the ball? 5% of the time he takes the snap? The 5% would be after successful draws when the defense started to creep up. Those plays w/o Vick on the team would have been runs so Brees would not lose any pass attempts in a given game.

As for no NFL experience playing RB I'd counter he's played RB every year he's been in the NFL.

No..it's not desperation to win.

It's that they think our organization is super stable and could handle a profile like him and never have him throw a single pass if he was to come into our offense.

I didn't say it couldn't get better, however adding some sort of flashy gimmick play (or player,) isn't getting better. Sustaining more drives, reducing turnovers and penalties, and a little bit better clock management would make this offense better. Vick? No, probably not.

are yall crazy picture this: a lateral pass to vick who is out wide bush colston and moore are out at reciever... pass it out to vick who could then either run or dump i toff to bush or let it fly..the possibilities are endless..he isnt replacing brees but it gives another tool, which we all know payton loves, to work with

Anyone that comes with less baggage and makes less than $10 million is better than Vick. He's been out of football for 2 years and even when he was in, he was a lousy passer. The Saints offense relys on a good passing QB, not a half RB/QB.

King thinks that Vick is the best landing spot and I agree. No wrong on this thinking.

King thinks that we have a coach that can make the best out of the situation. If someone can adapt their current system to get the most out of Vick's athletic ability, without disturbing the rest of the offense is Payton. Also, of the top of the quarterbacks in the league Brees would be the one who could see the addition of Vick as an opportunity, not a threat to get his job.

All of this considering of what is best to Vick.

Now, I think that the saints have already enough talent that will be really hard to make all of the players to contribute according to their skills. Sounds funny, but there will be a fight between receivers, tight ends and runners to get enough touches to produce.

I agree that New Orleans may be the best place for Vick to re-start his career, but I also think that the saints may not be interested at all on having him, considering that the distractions may be more then the real contributions that the player can have on the field, considering the team we currently have.

Vick should be interested in playing in New Orleans, however, the saints may not be interested in him.
