Potential Severe Weather tomorrow, 3-22-22 (Update: Tornadoes on ground in metro area) (2 Viewers)

Just spoke to 2 of my clients ( one on Aycock by river and other on Community St just next to St. Claude )

Both minor - some shingles missing - but yet 1 block over - devastation. One client has son on Friscoville...said his son watched tornado lift car into air and drop it in to next door house. All happened in matter of seconds. So it looks like it was "skipping" along until it got to W Judge Perez and really settled to ground.

Ugh.
Yes, looking at a few of the videos last night that huge column wasn’t all down, it had a small circulation under it. It only really planted for about a 2 mile stretch. The only tornadoes in La yesterday came from that one storm. Was another on the northshore where it briefly touched down.

The big moderate risk area in La didn’t have any tornadoes.

West bank of Jefferson Parish:

Saw the tornado warning on my phone last night at about 7:00 pm. Initially, the warning was until 7:45 pm, a little later extended to 8:15.

We didn't change any of our ongoing activities except to turn off the TV and turn off the dryer so we could hear outside. At no point did we hear the tornado.

The weather immediately over us remained relatively mild, if breezy and wet. Was thinkin much more about hail at the time than about tornado risk, despite the warning.

Going by the path posted in a few places (including in this thread), it seems to have passed about a quarter mile NW of our neighborhood. Looks like it first touched down somewhere near the Harvey-Gretna line near Timberlane CC, then hopped into the neighborhood immediately north of St. Cletus church in Gretna. Then it hopped again and touched down 'lightly' a few blocks NE of Stumpf and Terry. Must have scraped a little of Algiers Point before crossing the river and setting down in earnest over Arabi.

Just wanted to give an update on my niece and her boyfriend.

I thought they were going to be interviewed LIVE on GMA this morning. They were not! They were recorded last night and their brief interview was played this morning, shortly after 7am.

All in all. They left with the clothes on their bodies and are in a safe place with her boyfriend’s family.

Thanks to all who sent blessings. ❤️

Im here if I can be of any help. Is the house on Friscoville?

Will have the drone up in a few if your neice would like me to drone the house for insurance let me know. I’ll probably get it either way but can focus on it if she likes.
The house is owned by my nephew, who lives in Houston. My niece, as I refer to her for simple reasons, is actually my great niece. My nephew drove in and is already in the area taking care of business. He works for a large contractor in Houston and they have told him whatever he needs, he can get.

I appreciate the offer. ❤️

So I don’t recall a single tornado in the 18 years I lived in NOLA. Nor do I recall stories about tornadoes coming through the city before my time This is how many in 5 years? 2? 3?

In the Temporal Search Box, if you click on the 'x' to close the date that is randomly generated when you open the page, it will populate the map that is zoomable to see all the tornadoes that have historically occurred in a given area

You can also click on the individual paths to see information about that tornado, when it occurred, strength, length of path, etc

Data is until end of 2019

NWS crews are early estimating "at least" an EF3 on this one.

Brutal start to spring for a lot of people.

This is some footage from the storms that impacted the Austin area. Particularly calling attention to the remarkable scene captured at the start of this video. A truck is flipped over, spun around, eventually lands upright, and the driver was able to drive off.

it is brutal- we cant continue to take these body shots. Anymore weather-related mass damage events and this whole area will be paying thru both nostrils for property insurance.

and mentally, im getting to a point ( after 25 years ) that is wearing on me...all these clients losing most, if not everything. Becoming harder and harder to field the calls and try to navigate. And having a client base with an average of 10 years with me, you get to know each and every one quite well. Its so hard.

I just heard from my last client i reached out to at 745am. His bldg on Mehle St. Just texted me back to say all good...watched the roof of warehouse just across street get peeled off and thrown 2 blocks away.

So all 4 of my clients safe- minimal damage to speak of. So very lucky.

I'm in Terrebonne parish. My insurance renews in August. I am expecting a $1200-1500 increase judging by what people north of us have been seeing. Haven't had a raise or COL increase in 3 years, so it should be interesting. About to leave this entire state.

it wouldnt surprise me in the least to see you have a $1400-2000 increase along with 5% wind deductible attached. It really depends on where in Terrebonne you are.

I just did a quote for a commercial location in Golden Meadow. $1.6M total value...the ONLY market i could find that would quote- LA Citizens.
$132,000 annual. with 5% ( so $80,000 ) wind deductible.

( 2 years ago i could have done with a 2% named storm ded for probably between $30-40k ) TRIPLE in 2 years.

Its insane from New Iberia over toward Thib/Houma and if you get BELOW that? no one but Citizens.

Bourg... we got smoked for Ida.

I am not a person that makes request like this, but I donate and certainly understand for people in need.

As many of you are aware, my great niece and her fiance’ were living in her dad’s house (my nephew), in Arabi, La. They survived by the grace of god. The house is destroyed and they need a place to live until my nephew (who lives in Houston), can have it rebuilt. He is in town now, meeting with his insurance. His daughter and boyfriend lost everything, essentially except for the clothes on their backs. She is also pregnant, at 7 months!

All said. If anyone has interest and would like to donate, here is their gofundme account.

Channel 6, WDSU New Orleans, did a story on Brooke and her boyfriend this past Wednesday evening, on their 10pm newscast, if you care to go to the website and view it. It may be on there, and or youtube as well. But IDK.

I thank all of you in advance, as fellow Saints fans and extended family members. 👍💯

It was a 16yr young man driving home from a job interview at Whataburger. A Chevy dealership in Ft Worth is goving him a brand new Chevy Silverado. The kid said he wasn’t driving away as much as he as trying to get to a safe place.
