Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (2 Viewers)

Some of those deep balls to Shaheed and Tipton that they couldn't come down with may have been different with a WR like Adams.

Those were all missed opportunities.

When the Saints have to make a play and the other team blitzes, Carr has no time, and the Saints receivers can't win on their routes.

Maybe just maybe Adams can.

The receivers are winning their routes it's just that Carr has to heave it up over his back foot. He made some good throws considering that pressure, but he also threw a bad interception because of it. Maybe Adams catches one of those balls and it would have been an amazing catch, but it would not have changed this game. This offense will be better based on if the OL gets healthy and they can run the ball. Hopefully McCoy comes back in 6 weeks and is fine. Hopefully Patrick end up being fine. Hopefully Ruiz comes back soon and is fine. But that's a lot of things we hope works out and we have 2 games in the next 9 days. Who knows what the injury report will be for this week.

Yes they scored 90 points in the first two games, but they did that because they could run the ball. And, if they can score 90 points in two games by running the ball with a healthy OL, Olave, and Shaheed, why would we need to spend a bunch of future assets on Adams?

We could close this thread with that post. I know it won't happen, but that wraps it up very nicely.

Love the post but just want to point out that Carr isn’t throwing off his back foot all because of the blocking. I mean it is probably a flinch like reaction because of a 250 plus lineman coming at him but ultimately he could probably move and sling it with his feet planted. We have seen the best to ever do it in a Saints uniform and maybe of all time.

In reality his backfoot stuff is cumulative. He's played a lot of football and has developed tendencies in how he reacts to pressure. It's all on his tape from his entire career. In a perfect world he'd be able to have a short memory and go back to fundamentals. In reality, he reacts poorly to pressure up the middle. So when you sign a guy like that the coaches have to build things to highlight his best parts and hide his bad parts. They have not done so.

The Saints have not done anything like that for Carr like they did for Drew. Drew had one of the best interior lines to ever play. They gave Drew a clean pocket to step into when outside pressure came and they gave him throwing lanes that covered for his shorter stature. If he had to play behind this line, he wouldn't be very good either. We even saw that his last couple of years.

I agree mostly but Drew made the o line look good just as much as they did for him. Look at what Jayden Daniels is doing with Virtual Reality and practicing reps and think about how Drew did the same except without VR.

There are things Carr could probably do to anticipate pressure and compensate for o line weaknesses but really that skillset as a whole seems to be rare.

At this point Saints should be trading players for draft picks.

This team is never going to get any better.

A overhaul of the coaching staff is needed.

I doubt any of this is going to happen. We are going to hear at the end of the season, bring it back for one more year.

An Overhaul should have been started a long time ago
