Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (2 Viewers)

Loomis can't unless the Raiders agree to eat most of Adam's salary for this year.

Nonsense.

Loomis can leap tall buildings in a single bound if he so desires.

Please stop with all this fretting about the cap. It's simply a figment of the sports media and has proven to never be an issue for him.

My premise is not to cut him next yr but to re-negotiate his deal for 2-3 yrs with a reasonable guarantee. . You keep harping on Adam being 32 , 1st he's 31 now and will play most of next yr @ 32 yrs old if you knew much about Adams you'd know that his game is not one that relies on speed, the main thing that a WR starts to lose with age . His game is route running , getting open and contested catches. So he will perform at a high level for the next 2-3 yrs
He'll be 32 in December. Extending him 3 years with guaranteed money put him on the books until he's 35. That's older than Adam Theilen is. It's actually older than any WR in the NFL is right now.

You also ignore the larger ramifications for the team. We are thin on talent, but the talent we do have have contracts coming due right at the same time as we're going to be forced to deal with aging players contracts. And by deal with them, I mean take on dead money from past can kicking and have lower paid players on the roster. We are done kicking the can on most of those guys.

I don't talk about Adams in a vacuum and I am not discounting his past. I talk about him in the context of historical usefulness of aging players. I also talk about him in the context of what the team is now (not great), what they will be in the near term (most likely still not great) and what I want to watch in the longer term (better than they are now). It's time to get younger. We need picks, not aging players. We need cheaper contracts, not expensive ones.

We'd be stupid to trade for him at this point. This is a 3-6 team at best by the time Carr comes back.

The time to not screw up the cap any further is now.
I was all about bringing him in even after the KC loss, but you’re right, now it’s time to stick to the belt tightening plan.

He could have made a difference today, but not enough with us giving up nearly 600 yards.
