We had almost 600 yards rushing in the 1st 4 games avg almost 150 a game. Our OL is not bad when healthy. An upgrade @ LG and we're a top 12 OLThe entire point of this thread is that Rattler is part of the equation. Some in the Saints front office really like him. Will that stop them from drafting a QB? Probably not, but that really depends on how good Moore and the front office think Rattler is. They aren't going to draft a QB that they think isn't as good as Rattler.
Jeanty is not going to instantly get you a top 10 running game this season. We don't have the OL for that and I don't think he's a generational talent. He lacks the quickness and top end speed to be a generational RB and it's not clear that he will be able to break tackles in the NFL the way he did against Mountain West defenses and that is he true skill. He's a very good RB, but he's not Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, or LT. He's not even Saquan or Bijan Robinson.

This report about the FO loving SR came from 1 guy , Miller @ ESPN and he said he heard it. So with the state of sports reporting everyone is saying what ONE guy said, and that guy is from ESPN, you know everyone's trusted sports network.
The only opinion on SR that matters will be Moore's
You know as well as I do an OL is a group. You can't expect them after being a hodge podge of an OL for 10 games and then all of a sudden they are healthy and it's business as usual. When they were all healthy again they hadn't played together for like 8-10 wksThe thing is that the more or less healthy OL that played later in the year never reached the level of the first two games again. Yes, they were fine at times, but the OL is pretty far from being good at this point. If Fuaga and Penning continue to develop they might be. But there is no guarantee that is going to happen especially with Penning.
Anyway, we are going to have a new OC and a new system, we don't really know how Moore, or whoever ends up being HC, will want to play.
And it's not just one guy who said this. Both Underhill and Triplett have said that Rattler has several big fans in the front office. Maybe Moore agrees or maybe he doesn't.
You based this off of what? Poor protection, 0 starting WRs and an interim special teams coach as HCI can't imagine Rattler ever being a very successful starter. Stranger things have happened though. That being said, if you can move Carr you should. The franchise QB isn't currently on this team.
This is just my opinion. I don't dislike Carr. I do think Carr holds more value for the Saints in trade right now. He would bring more interest than the FA QB list, I think. I am a fan of trading Carr for draft capitol, even if future draft. Go into this season with new HC, OC, Rattler, and QB draft pick. Yes, we will probably be drafting early again next season. Foundation building. I think you and I agree? It’s either Carr or we move on from Carr. If we move on then it’s Spencer’s team for 2025. This season should be towards building a competitive team in 2026/27. No more can kicking.
Wasn't McCoy healthy the last few weeks?Someone saying same players. How many games rattler have Eric McCoy the entire game. I believe answer is 0.
We may get complacent with him if he wins but loses important games. If we don't draft Dart, the best pocket potential compared to the top two guys, we should stick with Carr. The FO did not do their research on Carr with the Raiders to know what worked for him. Rattler might bring excitement, but is he grounded?I don't get why people on here are so down on Rattler. He was a rookie playing behind possibly the worst OL in the league and had lost ALL of his WRs replaced by JAGs. His play still flashed some high points/talent regardless of his team weaknesses. No decent running game to take pressure off of his throws. No play action to keep the D off balance. Too many adversities to try to overcome as a Rookie.
I think who Rattler can be is still to be seen. It wouldn't surprise me if our new QB Whisperer/Coach can mold him into a more than decent starting QB.
He may also fail to make the transition to Pro QB. My point is that I don't think anyone here can tell that yet.
I think Carr is the better option if we fix OL and add a WR weapon.Offensive line being healthy and actually having nfl caliber weapons that get open are two things that help out a young qb in the league. Rattler had no help the WR position.
Nope. Missed the last 2 games of the season with an arm injury.Wasn't McCoy healthy the last few weeks?
I wonder how many other qbs the Saints executives have loved since Brees left. And I hope it’s not same Saints executives that didn’t love Baun.
No, I wish him the best. I just want the team to get better and go after a good legit young g prospect. We need to remove our black and gold glasses and be realistic. Rattler, at this point in his career shouldn’t be considered a viable option to start. I hope he can develop in the next couple of years. But we need to bring in some talent now.Did Rattler kick your dog or something?
They loved Ian Book and the majority of draft picks they make. It's like asking a parent whether they love their kid.I wonder how many other qbs the Saints executives have loved since Brees left. And I hope it’s not same Saints executives that didn’t love Baun.
