Saints expected to be very interested in former Packers/Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy [McCarthy will interview early next week] (59 Viewers)

He wouldn’t play Jake in the final 3 games of the season when all we needed was to win 1 game of the final 3. Brooks was beat up and throwing backward passes at that point. The whole Dome was booing Brooks. Who was Brooks backup? Jake Delhomme, who would have got us into the playoffs but McCarthy wouldn’t play him. Delhomme leaves at the end of the year and takes Carolina to the Super Bowl the VERY NEXT YEAR! I want no part of McCarthy! Been there done that. Didn’t like him when he was our OC and I don’t want him back. Here is the scary part. I could see Loomis doing something stupid like that. I think the Packers got to the Super Bowl despite McCarthy not because of McCarthy. If Loomis does that it will be another 3 years of mediocrity. The only thing good that will come out of that hire will be Loomis putting the final nail in his own coffin cause he will get fired for hiring McCarthy. I know y’all have not forgot about the years he was here.
I was around for that fiasco...
He did a pretty good job of developing Delhomme into that Superbowl taking QB for the Panthers...
Also Aaron Brooks put up some nice stats in his Offense.

How do you know the decision to play Brooks was McCarthy's decision?
& a bad HC doesn't win as many games as he has as a HC.

I'm not really crazy about some of the high school plays he runs... especially the triple option he ran last night.

His offense needs a very mobile QB.

He's only running that offense because he has a very mobile QB. It's very different from what he ran at Arizona and Texas Tech. He adopts his offense to his QB and his personnel more than most OC are capable of doing. He is a guy that will need to fix the mistakes he made as a first time HC, and I don't know if he can do that or not, but he is a really good offensive mind.

I think you kinda always want the new and exciting option. It’s mysterious and you don’t really know how it’ll turn out but it’s fresh and different so you’re on board.

But, there’s times where you just need an old reliable hand to come in and stabilize the team and stop the bleeding. A guy who knows how to fix these issues that have plagued the team for several years.

McCarthy may not set the world on fire but I think at worst he makes the team respectable again and gets us back into contention for the NFC South. At best he could find the freedom to be best version of himself here and have an Andy Reid-like renaissance.

So yeah I’m not against hiring McCarthy.
I think McCarthy immediately becomes the best Coach in the NFC South. I think we will get proven big name Coordinators. He had Mike Nolan, Dan Quinn, and Mike Zimmer as Coordinators. I

I agree. He did great here in New Orleans. We do not win our first playoff game without McCarthy. Dude has coached Montana, Farve, and Rodgers, and when he was here our offenses were always in the top ten. Bro, this argument is kinda weak. Remember when the Packers won that Super Bowl. It was basically a mash unit. Everyone was hurt. I remember Aikman kept asking in the booth " How are they winning with these injuries.?" I know he gets great asst. coaches, and all he does is get the best from his QB's. He has Coached three Hall of Famers.

I love those trick plays much more than run up the middle on first, run up the middle on second, pass on third, punt. I got to witness some of them in person this year going to the Lions/49ers game. And mobile QBs are the future of the NFL. Statues like Carr are the past.

His QB isn't mobile...
He is a human with jets...ala Steve Young, Michael Vick, Lamar Jackson.

Joe Flacco is a statue...
Carr isn't a runner but he isn't a statue either but I get your point.

I like Daniels, but I'm not as enamored with him as you clearly are and I'm not putting him in a class with those guys at this point. He's had a great season no doubt, but I'm not going to overreact to it yet. Even CJ Stroud came back to earth a bit this year.

That said, Rattler is pretty mobile. Not to the level of Daniels and Lamar obviously, but he can move around a bit. If line play was designed for it instead of him running on broken plays he'd be passable until we find a better option. Carr on the other hand doesn't move in the pocket at all. He doesn't roll out, can't really step up right now and isn't a run threat. When he tried he missed games.

I'm not enamored with Daniels throwing mechanics... only his speed & that he is a rookie played but played like a 10 year veteran QB.
We will see what he does next year.

You are correct in that Rattler has the good mobility & in today's game that is a plus.
I'm highly enamored with Rattler's quick release, accuracy, & poise in the pocket.

I also like the fact that things didn't go great for him this year.
He shouldn't get big headed & he should work hard this off-season to get better.

How many 33 year old qb's are run threats?
Carr isn't a statue, he just is getting older for a QB & they don't run as much.
Have you watched how R. Wilson can't run away from defensive player anymore.
That is one of the reasons the Steelers struggled so badly down the stretch...

Carr is from the old mold of pocket QBs and never had anywhere close to the mobility Wilson had. That's what I always wanted in the past but the game has changed. NFL defenders are too quick and too strong for O lineman to hold up the way they once did. If you don't have an elite line, the QB is a sitting duck in today's NFL. Goff gets away with it because his line IS elite. Carr will not have that during the remainder of his time with the Saints and Kingsbury understands what to do with Rattler.
