Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (1 Viewer)

Our most veteran wide receiver is barely old enough to drink. I'd say Boldin would be worth bringing in for his presence in the film room alone.

Possession/in traffic receivers are all insurance for when Brees arm goes to crap. It will probably lengthen his staying power. He's good now but we all have to be mindful that it will probably drop off a cliff inevitably.

Probably inevitably?

Not necessarily. He doesn't have a bionic neck like Manning and Brady doesn't seem to have fallen off any cliffs lately.

All these rules protecting quarterbacks seem to really be making it so they can play longer, with Brady/Brees being the first generation of QB's to benefit from it.

There's no real downside to adding talent/veteran leadership going into camp. Anything can happen, so it's a way of hedging bets and boosting competition.

The roster and playing time will get sorted out.

True. If he looks washed up in camp, you cut him. Could be insurance if someone gets hurt in preseason.

Snead was inconsistent with deep balls because that isn't really part of his game. And you can absolutely have a 4 WR set. Not sure why you think there's a limit of three for some reason.

We run a TE-based offense or going to, basically two TEs and three receivers max.

Thomas is gonna have his ups and downs with that schedule, he will need more than one chance in a game to make a crucial third down play. He's going to be relied upon to carry the team on his back in some games because of all the top corners Cooks will be facing.

Yeah Cooks, Snead, Thomas, Boldin is a bad thing.
Try again debbie downer.

I'm not upset that the Saints upgrading the WR position, it's the "type" of receiver that they are continuing to target that I question.

Sounds like his relationship with Morton is so strong that this could be a done deal.

Why wouldn't he want to finally get to play with a QB of Drew's caliber at this point in his career. He won a Super Bowl with Joe ******* Flacco. I'd love to see what he could do with Brees at the helm.

I really think he has enough left in the tank to make a solid contribution and he would bring a much needed vet presence in practice and LR for that WR group.

Which is why I believe we need another legit deep threat. I would say Joe Morgan, but obviously that ship has sailed.

It wasn't last year.

All of this is opinion and conjecture.

What happens when Cooks, Snead, Thomas or Coleman gets hurt? I can say that that will happen with more certainty than you can that Thomas will be relied on to carry the team on his back as a rookie.

What wasn't last year?

I'm speaking in a general sense. Not every acquisition pans out, not every season presents the same opportunities, or unfolds as hoped.

I don't understand your point.

I'm shocked he still wants to play. He's got a ring and the stats, and his brain has took some eery hits over the years. With all the stuff coming out about player health, I'm surprised he hasn't retired already.

Would have no problem if we signed him though.

Why are people saying he's not fast? That's never been his strength it's catching crazy passes and holding onto them he's a possession recover and that's not about speed good God man some of you people
