Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (2 Viewers)

What wasn't last year?

I'm speaking in a general sense. Not every acquisition pans out, not every season presents the same opportunities, or unfolds as hoped.

I don't understand your point.

Basically that our WR group wasn't effective as it has been in previous years.

His logic is that we have Coleman as our 4th receiver so bringing in a future HOF receiver with legendary locker room presence is dumb because Coleman won't get on the field as much, therefore meaning we'll be worse than last year. I think.
Or...We bring in a potential HOF receiver to further bolster our offense, and in doing so, our young WR's learn something from him in the process.

Enh.

I still like Coleman, maybe more than a lot of fans at this point, but he didn't stand out enough last season that I would think his role should be discussed with any certainty. (Not down on him, not high on him). If Boldin joined the team and still looked like he has something left, but Coleman played well enough to make him expendable, that's a win for the team.

If you need to complete a pass over 30 yards, and the game is on the line, who would you throw to outside of Cooks?
If the game is on the line and we need 30 yards, we are sending all of our WRs deep. Look for a strong tall receiver. Fleener and Coleman fit that category, as well.

I do too. I was pulling for him last year (even drafted him in the preseason in FF) and he looked like the light came on towards the end of the year.

But he's not even in the same conversation as a talent like Boldin - so long as Boldin is still Boldin, which if he isn't, nothing is lost when he gets cut in camp. And we can very well have both of them on the team since we're talking about the #4 and #5 WR spots here. Cooks is our most veteran receiver right now and he's like 22. That is why I think Boldin would be such a valuable pickup.

He beat Ben Watson for Man of the Year. It would be a huge locker room upgrade. Plus he can get you a first down on 3rd and 6

It would be the same reason we brought in Laurainitis and that we signed Roman Harper - we are extremely young. These veterans are here to help bring up the future stars of our team.

I hope they sign him I've always loved Boldin's competitive spirit.

The team shouldn't bring in Boldin because of last season's struggles?

Uh, ok.

I didn't say that. If anything, Snead should just ride the bench except for maybe a few snaps. Let Boldin have his volume, Thomas have his, Cooks have his. Coleman..........well his PT took a huge hit. If we want Thomas to be limited we better not be trying to use him on third down. Drew likes to throw over the middle.

I never said anything about Coleman to that extent. My concern is Snead and Thomas.

I guarantee this signing turns into dead money on the cap next season. Roll with what we have! YOUTH MOVEMENT
