Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (1 Viewer)

If you need to complete a pass over 30 yards, and the game is on the line, who would you throw to outside of Cooks?

If we have a 3rd and 4 with the game on the line, I would rather us throw to Boldin than any of our current receivers. His hands are terrific and he uses his body to shield off defenders as well as any WR in the league. We will need to complete many more 3rd and short/mediums in crunchtime than 3rd and 30's.

If the game is on the line and we need 30 yards, we are sending all of our WRs deep. Look for a strong tall receiver. Fleener and Coleman fit that category, as well.

I don't remember the game, but we needed a long play and Coleman was targeted, but he didn't catch it. I believe he was facing single coverage too.

looks like neither one of us knows what you're talking about.

In those games the offense stunk(Tennessee second half). Yes those were good defenses but you just don't play like that in front of your fans against Detroit and Tennessee. It was embarrassing we could not punch it in at the half against Detroit. And I know Snead dropped a TD against Arizona, Snead also whiffed on two passes against Philadelphia(already elaborated on), Coleman dropped a catch against Atlanta. Idk what to think. But the receivers simply did not show up against the bigger defenses.

And do I trust the guard play? No. I don't know if that's gonna be improved or not.

We run a TE-based offense or going to, basically two TEs and three receivers max.

Thomas is gonna have his ups and downs with that schedule, he will need more than one chance in a game to make a crucial third down play. He's going to be relied upon to carry the team on his back in some games because of all the top corners Cooks will be facing.

You do remember those plays where we had colston, meach, henderson, and moore on the field at the same time right? It's called empty back sets, you can still have a TE in those sets...

Detroit was stolen from us by bad officiating.

All of the reasons you just listed are reasons FOR bringing Boldin in, not against it.

Old, washed up WR. He's been "done" for years now. Work with the young guys we have now. Boldin, no thank you!

Not the dumbest post I've seen on here but it cracks the top 10. Dude can still get the Saints 700+ yards and 8 or so touchdowns. Consider the garbage QBs he has had in SF. Still has a couple years left

Ugh..another slow possession receiver? I imagine the Saints will face a lot of bump and run this year.
Look like another bad year in Madden lol no speed or height except for Coleman and he can't catch lol

Oh GOD please no!!!!

Sometimes I just don't understand fans. How anybody could say "Oh GOD please no!!!!" to a player like Anquan Boldin is just beyond me. Not just no but please GOD no?

Over the past two seasons Boldin had 152 rec, 1,851 yards, and 9 TDs.

Over the past two seasons Cooks had 137 rec, 1,688 yards, and 12 TDs.

Over the past two seasons Boldin has caught passes from Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert.

Cooks has been catching passes from Drew Brees.

If Boldin outproduced our best WR over the past two seasons then surely he can outproduce the player he would be brought in to replace which would be Colston. Boldin could roll out of bed and at least provide what Colston brought to the offense.

Over the past three seasons in San Fran Boldin had 237 rec, 3,030 yards, and 16 TDs.

During that same span Colston had 179 rec, 2,365 yards, and 14 TDs.

So people are saying "GOD please no!" to a player who averaged 79 catches, 1,010 yards, and 5 TDs a year while catching passes from two of the worst starting QBs in the NFL. Because that makes sense...

You have a chance to add that veteran leadership to our guys young core, you do it plain and simple

Good teams don't make moves like this. It took an injury to the #1 WR for GB to pickup James Jones. Let the young guys play and if they don't workout replace them with different young players.

People are so perplexing to me. Boldin is the PERFECT mentor for Michael Thomas. Dude doesn't even need to be open to reel it in. Slow? He's always been "slow" so I doubt he's any worse. Sign the man, Loomis!

A love this signing for a few reasons... and none have anything to do with on-field performance.

- Boldin is a GREAT locker room guy and IIRC he was a finalist for the Walter Payton award a couple years ago (or did he win it?)

- Boldin is the consummate professional... works hard and is a great mentor for our young guys.

- Johnny Morton (our WR coach) knows him better than anyone other than Boldin's parents, and they have a great relationship.

Boldin would be an excellent mentor for our "young guys", which would define our entire WR corps. Cooks is 23 nd the oldest. is that crazy or what?

It's a solid move considering the experience level of the receiving corp. There isn't a receiver with over 2 years in the league. Plus it's training camp and if Boldin has still got enough to beat out the host of UDFA's on the roster then its a win for us IMO. Really would anyone be upset if Boldin could beat out Coleman or Dangerfield???

Huh? This is actually the EXACT move good teams make. You're racking up the post that make no sense today. Good teams like the Pats bring in vets ALL THE TIME like this and squeeze something out of them.
