Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (1 Viewer)

He had 520 yards last year. You sure about that?

I think it was more about health. You cannot compare his yardage to Boldin's. Boldin was pretty much the main (or only) option in SF. I think Colston would still be here if it were not for his body starting to fail him.

This guy has glue on his hands, catches everything, comes up big when you need THAT reception!!

If we're pursuing him on the recommendation of John Morton, I'm sold. Morton knows what Boldin still has in the tank.

Anyone else remember the article about our WRs wearing "WWAD" (what would Anquan do) wrist bands in camp because Morton used him as an example so much? I think this would be an excellent move, bring Boldin in as a mentor.

I'll even go as far as to say that Cooks-Boldin-Snead-Thomas-Fleener would be the most impressive group of receivers Brees has had in New Orleans since 2011. That's a championship group right there.

FWIW I don't see him even listed as a FA Wr. I'd bring back Colston. He is younger and has a SB ring.

Colston was released when he couldn't pass the physical. I would like to see him come back too, but unfortunately I believe his career is over. He was one of the best. Anquan Boldin will bring his savy, experience, toughness and passion to our young WR corps and that ain't a bad thing. Hope we sign him. Yeah he may be older than Colston, but he's healthier than Colston.

If you need to complete a pass over 30 yards, and the game is on the line, who would you throw to outside of Cooks?

Michael Thomas for starters. Fleener is a deep threat as well.

But the whole "deep threat" idea is misunderstood anyway. You don't have to run a 4.3 to catch a deep ball. Guys like Snead can catch deep balls and have. Lance Moore caught many deep balls when he was here.

There are lots of fast guys who don't command double teams because they just aren't any good.

Boldin's attitude is infectious. He'd bring back a level of toughness/swagger to the offense that we haven't seen in 5 years. Remember how Sharper changed the defense's on-field demeanor? Building would provide that same thing to the offense.

Let's see. A tough, workhorse, locker room leader who still makes big 1st downs and is too strong to try and jam at the LOS who could have a 1,000 yard season with SP and Brees.

And Kevin Williams was our 2nd best DL last year.......

Meh. We seem to love signing guys at the end of their careers that have lost speed/skill. It's not bad if it works, but outside of Watson, I don't ever remember it really working. The list of failed experiments is long. Maybe I'm wrong, I hope so. Either way, it shouldn't be a big penalty if we do sign him. I can't imagine he's demanding all that much.

"Seem to love"? "Guys"? .......name some examples? (Edit: I'll help you out with 2 I forgot: Olin Kreutz and Goodwin......and like Meachem, Goodwin likely never comes back if not for his previous tenure)

Do you not think Jeremy Shockey produced? Darren Sproles ? David Patten ? You mentioned Watson.........maybe you're referencing Meachem, and do you even think that would have happened if not for his familiarity with the system? How about on defense...Darren Sharper? Curtis Lofton? Those guys didn't produce to your liking? Since we "seem to love" signing these declining "guys" (plural)........please list them, since it's such a long list? I don't think you know what you're talking about.

I would love this signing. He brings an attitude to the team that we could use and would also help recover the loss of Ben Watson's leadership.

Ian Rap reported it so we probably have -2000% interest in Boldin.

Would be ok with the signing as long as he's brought in to compete. That position in particular has a lot of young talent and I would hate to see someone performing cut because of Boldin. I know a lot of people are for it, but he's up there in age.
