Saints making strongest push for Anquan Boldin??? (2 Viewers)

Also what does this do to Cooks? This is his shot to be the leader in the WR room. Now you're bringing in a Vet that will take the room over. I believe Cooks has the leadership the room needs.

Good teams don't make moves like this. It took an injury to the #1 WR for GB to pickup James Jones. Let the young guys play and if they don't workout replace them with different young players.

Just stop.

There won't be anyone to replace them with if we don't sign him now.

You want to wait until we're 0-4 and the offense is sputtering and Thomas isn't living up to expectations to make a move? You think that's how GOOD teams operate?

OK. You've already shown enough of your knowledge by even comparing Brandon Coleman to Anquan Boldin, much less saying that Coleman is BETTER THAN Boldin.

But the receivers simply did not show up against the bigger defenses.

Yet this was your first post in this discussion:

It's a bad thing because four receivers cannot be on the field at one time and the person who will take the hit from this is Snead and he was already inconsistent last year with deep balls. Now Snead takes some snaps also away from Thomas in the slot. And then there's Coleman or Harris whoever stays.

Once again, volume issues abound.

You seem to have a problem with the team bringing in Boldin but the further this discussion goes, the less your posts seem to support your initial assertion.

Hopefully all of the young veteran WRs are better and Thomas comes in and makes an impact. That still doesn't negate that Boldin could be a nice insurance policy if he has something left, and/or if an issue arises at the position, and he could boost competition in camp (my original points).

You're worrying about playing time and production and we don't have any idea who is going to be healthy, improved, and ready to play in September.

Holy ****. The hole just keeps getting deeper.

A third year player at 22/23 years old is not all the leadership a team needs. If it were, we wouldn't be looking at Boldin in the first place. Or do you know more about the situation than Payton too?

You do remember those plays where we had colston, meach, henderson, and moore on the field at the same time right? It's called empty back sets, you can still have a TE in those sets...

Our current WR corp isn't as near as talented as that group. Meach & Henderson could stretch the field, while Moore was slippery and reliable for getting in those soft spots in the zone. Meanwhile you had great TE play from either Shockey or Graham.

In what world do you live in where you think an UFA WR is gonna walk off the street and give you 1,000 yards?

Lol, what? Which other different young players are you referring to? We only have like 3 WRs who were even drafted on the roster.

Cooks and Snead are legitimate NFL WRs. After that it gets dicey in a hurry. Who knows what we have in Thomas and Coleman is a 4th WR at best. Behind those two guys the list of names on our roster is a who's who of "Who The Hell Is He?" guys. Lustrous names like Kyle Prater and Reggie Bell. R.J. Harris and Vincent Brown.

I'd rather take my chances with Anquan Boldin instead of Jordan Williams-Lambert or Tommylee Lewis. And no I didn't just make up those two names off the top of my head. Those are two actual players listed as WRs on the Saints roster.

I based my post off of your statement that our offense runs through our TE's.
We have and will continue to use empty back sets as long as the o-line does their job.

To keep comparing this current crop of WR's to our previous crop is futile. They are all different. We don't have the two burners at the Z(Meachem/Henderson) to compliment the slower colston who played the X. We now have two possession receivers(Thomas/Snead)at the Z to compliment the speedy cooks playing the X and Boldin adds veteran leadership and also an ability to come through on 3rd down.

This isn't even a legit argument.
