shockey admits to future trade?? (1 Viewer)

I'm starting to warm to the idea personally.......I don't know what it is, but the idea of him dragging three guys with him for an extra 4 yards after his helmet falls off sounds like the kind of thing we need in this town. Very Deuce-esque.

For a second next year I'd pull the trigger.....simply add a conduct clause to the contract and if he gets out of line ie: missing team meetings, insubordination...etc...etc...just cut him and all he leaves with is that years salary. If he refused to sign the deal based on that caveat.....then he probably would be an issue. You'd just have to clearly state what behavior constituted misconduct so that everyone involved knew what was what.

If he is healthy for the Saints, I think he could be a 70 catch 700 yard Tight End for our offense.

Thats worth a 2nd rounder IMO.

Remember this is the same FO that spent a 1st rounder on a 0 catch, 0 yard reciever. So i think this trade is possible.

i never had a problem with shockey's arroagance or anything he really says, some people are just idiots. but the only problem i have with him is, his team was in the superbowl and whe wasn't even on the sidelines with them. i agree he is a good player but what kind of teammate does not get on the sideline

Very ******-esque.

Fixed it for you.

I don't think lambasting his coach and QB in public have anything in common with Deuce.

Shockey is poison, plain and simple. He can be made to behave for a while, but he can not be contained for long. He is what he is. I bet he will wear out his welcome inside of a year.

Right, because going to a bar makes you an alcoholic. Thank God that New York does not have as many bars as New Orleans or Shockey might have already been arrested several times for DUI.
Jesus, lighten up. Its a joke.

We cannot trade our second next season because it is tied to the Vilma trade.

I'm pretty sure it's a conditional 3rd/4th next year and our 4th this year. Although, I probably wouldn't want to trade next year's 2nd because, if all goes well with Vilma, we would be left with only one day 1 pick.

That's what I thought as well, but I could be wrong of course.

Here's a link where it does indeed mention that it could be a third or second round pick in 2009. Of course, with no idea what the incentives are beyond playing time and Vilma re-signing we don't know of the other qualifiers. I for one hope that he plays every defensive snap and wins the NFL Defensive MVP next season!:9:

Now, the thing that may trigger that 2nd round could be something like he makes the pro bowl or NFL Defensive MVP or a myriad of other things......

All that said, it's not a 2nd rounder yet, so if the Saints were to trade that pick, then whatever team that holds the pick would have to be prepared to lose that pick in the event Vilma meets the qualifiers....which could be a deal killer.....or maybe that team would be fine losing it in 2009 and getting a 2010 2nd round pick.

Who knows?

I am not trying to be a smart azzm but that is like saying best buy shouldnt answer the phone when they dpnt recognize the number. I am sure he answers every call because time is precious in that business. If he misses the call a team might change their mind.

That and he may miss a call from a prospective client(I'm sure players pass this info along to other players). How many people actually have Drew's personal cell # anyways? I could believe this story and I would love to see this guy catching passes from Mr Brees.

As opposed to what, two? Are you aware that the first day of the draft has been reduced to just rounds 1 and 2? The third round has been pushed back to Sunday. So, I would hardly see having one day 1 pick as a major problem.

You're right, I forgot about that. I was going by the old definition of Day 1. It's not a deal breaker or anything, but it's something to consider as well.
