shockey admits to future trade?? (1 Viewer)

Shockey will always run his mouth and that's fine with me. However the difference between the Saints and the Giants are that the Saints do not suffer from a lack of locker-room and on-field leadership. Offensively, Deuce and Drew are not going to let Shockey become a distraction, but should he head that way, Payton doesn't seem like the type to let a guy who might cause problems to hand around.

I also don't see Payton running this team the way that Coughlin runs the Giants, so I don't anticipate a lot of head butting going on between Shockey and Payton which is the root of the problem between Shockey and the Giants.

I'll give them a second round pick next year for him, but anything more than that they can keep him. He's their problem.

he gave me and my cousins the scoop on what he thinks of his situation with the giants. he wants to play for them but he hates the organization because they gave him about 29 drugs tests within a very short time and they sent someone to his house when his mom was there so she found out he was being tested and she freaked out and started crying. he hates tom coughlin and he wants spagnuolo to be the head coach

I can totally believe that. Coughlin runs a super tight ship with the Gmen.

I look at it from NY's point of view. They won the Superbowl with him sitting on the bench. They don't need the guy and should move him while they can get something for him. I could see him moved on draft day in some kind of trade and we all know we need a TE....

I don't think N.O. would be a good town 4 him.
"cough, Kerry Colins, cough, cough"

He was a malcontent before, imagine what he would be like when he's unhappy.

I doubt it. Payton and Shockey have always gotten along well. Shockey has given Payton the most credit for his development as a player. Also, Drew Brees is a much stronger leader than Eli Manning and would feel just as comfortable telling Shockey to get in line than he does with the players on our team.

I'd much rather Chad Johnson.
Chad Johnson is acting like a MUCH bigger baby than Shockey. Have you seen any of his interviews lately! The guy may have a mental disorder. He could become the Britney Spears of football if he keeps going like this.

i think shockey would do well here. if we can get him for a 3rd or less, i'd take it. I wouldn't give up a 2nd though. there should still be a starting calibur defensive player available at the 10th pick in round 2.

My hope is that we are able to trade a second next year. I would like nothing more than to be able to get a DT in the first and a CB or OT or falling LB in the second.

We need Shockey. Even if he comes with a little baggage. We've been struggling with cover-2 defenses and Shockey would solve that problem and make the offense unstoppable. If we are trying to make a title run in the next few years, we have to find a TE who can stretch the field consistently either by trade or through the draft. Since none of the prospects this year will be anywhere near as good as Shockey, The offer makes sense. A Passing catching TE is the only thing missing from this offense.

Kerry Collins was an alcoholic. Jeremy Shockey is not (that we know of).
I present exhibit A.

I think our 2 next year is tied up with the Vilma trade.

No matter what the story or source of the story, Shockey always comes up as an arrogant troublemaker. Today, Coughlin and Manning are the target of that mouth. Tomorrow it could be Payton and Brees. That's the kind of person he is. Anyone that believes Payton and Brees can keep Shockey under control is fooling himself. Sooner or later, that mouth will erupt, and cause trouble and embarrassment to the Saints organization. We don't need him.

Shockey never liked Coughlin from the beginning. On the other hand, Shockey has always spoken GLOWINGLY about Payton and how critical Payton was to his [Shockey] success. He has mentioned Patyon at times when it was not necessary. He was on NFL Network right around the time of the draft and spoke about how he thought Payton would do very well as a first year coach of all the new coaches. He said something along the lines of, "I love that guy...he's a straight shooter and he helped me more than anyone in terms of becoming a great TE in this league." He said Payton was innovative and that the Saints should have a solid offense. I also remember him speaking great things about Reggie Bush (this was before we drafted him) and how he thought he was going to be incredible and that he wished that Reggie had gone to the U.

No, I don't think it is, although I could be wrong. From what I understand, it's a fourth this year and a fourth next year that could become a third.
