Spoiler Spoiler Thread: Avengers Infinity War (2 Viewers)

I think the article I just read said it was an VFX guy but he said that Spiderman took longer to disappear because of how hard he's fighting it and that he's that powerful to where it took longer.

The original Avengers got matching tattoos. Four of them did it together, Evans couldn't make but got the tat, and there's no word about Ruffalo yet. It's a basic Avengers A with a 6 incorporated into it.

Literally just finished watching it for the 3rd time and I came here to say, in an alternate universe the Falcons still lose a 25 point lead inn the Super Bowl.

Nah, just kidding. I'm wondering if ANYONE thinks there's a chance we see the Red Hulk in the next Infinity War?

So I saw the movie on Saturday in 3D and wanted to share my thoughts and some questions for some of you comic book guys.

First off, I really liked this movie and it was super easy to watch and enjoy. It didn't feel like 2 hr. 40 minute movie and that is one of the best things you can say about a movie. When it ended I was like "oh that's the end, I could keep watching for like 2 more hours." So really fun.

I really enjoyed some of the pairings that they put together. I especially liked Thor and Rocket Racoon. I think it was just the dichotomy b/t the superhuman God Thor and the small crazy 'rabbit' as he called him. Plus I thought the little dialogue b/t Thor and Rocket was really heartfelt and deep. Thor was actually questioning his role in the world and his fate. He actually stopped for once and reflected on all he has lost over the years and why he does what he does. He seemed lost and Rocket maybe just gave him a nudge back to the path he is supposed to take. Going to the forge and getting a new weapon almost re-energized him. And Bradley Cooper brings such weight as rocket that to me he is one of the most under rated characters in the MCU.

I also really like the spiderman/Thanos interactions. The pure snarky, smart arse teen talking smack to the giant ultra serious Thanos was really good too. No one has probably ever talked to him like that. a young teen not fully understanding the gravity of the situation was nice.

Lot's of good stuff that I liked and could go on but don't want to ramble. I have a few questions about Thanos though. So what 'race' or kind of creature/species is Thanos?? Is he a demi god like Thor? Or a human like species or what? Cause it seemed like even before he got all the stones or any that he was pretty formidable and had immense power.
And I think he said he was from Titan. Is that his home planet? is that the 'race' of species that he comes from? are the people following him and fighting for him from the same planet or species or do they all just choose to follow him?

I obviously didn't read the comics so I just wanted some background info on Thanos and his motivations.

Also, so Wakanda is super advanced technology wise but did that not make more advanced weapons than spears and shields? I saw they used some rifles at first but then stopped and charged. Do they not have tanks, missiles, bombs, etc? Seemed they could have killed much more of those creatures or at least had better defenses. Just a nitpick though.

In the Black Panther movie they had some ships similar to Quinjets, but didn't use them in this movie. (interestingly enough, in the comics, Quinjets are designed by Wakanda, not SHIELD).

Thanos: From wiki...

Thanos was born on Saturn's moon Titan as the son of Eternals Mentor and Sui-San, and his brother is Eros of Titan, also known as Starfox. Thanos carries the Deviants gene, and as such, shares the physical appearance of the Eternals' cousin race. At birth, his mother was shocked by his appearance and attempted to kill him, due to believing that her son would annihilate every life in the universe, but was stopped by A'Lars, Thanos' father.

Thanos is a mutant member of the race of superhumans known as the Titanian Eternals. The character possesses abilities common to the Eternals, but amplified to a higher degree through a combination of his mutant–Eternal heritage, bionic amplification, mysticism, and power bestowed by the abstract entity, Death. Demonstrating enormous superhuman strength, speed, stamina, immortality and invulnerability among other qualities, Thanos can absorb and project vast quantities of cosmic energy, and is capable of telekinesis and telepathy. He can manipulate matter and live indefinitely without food, air or water, cannot die of old age, is immune to all terrestrial diseases, and has an extremely high resistance to psychic assaults. Thanos is also an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant, having been trained in the art of war on Titan.

Thanos has proven himself capable of briefly holding his own in battle against Odin,[74] and of blasting Galactus off his feet.[75]

Thanos is a supergenius in virtually all known fields of advanced science and has created technology far exceeding that which is found on contemporary Earth. He often employs a transportation chair capable of space flight, force field projection, teleportation, time travel, and movement through alternate universes. Thanos is also a master strategist and uses several space vessels, at least three under the name "Sanctuary", as a base of operations.

Finally saw it with my daughter - loved it - looked over and the poor kid had tears streaming
down when Scarlett Witch was killing Vision's stone... wouldn't have guessed that
moment for her to break down

Curious as to why they didn't stick to the main characters that didn't have an upcoming movie being offed-
seems like it would have had a bigger/more lasting impact

great movie, went way too fast

I think the idea is to get this down to the original Avengers fixing the issue. One last ride for the original gang.

I'm probably gonna go see it a second time this weekend. Hopefully the caption device works this time around. I missed a lot of dialogue because being hard of hearing makes it difficult to understand what's going on, particularly when Rocket and Thor/Captain America were talking. Also missed a lot between Thanos and Gamora. Frustrating really. This is why for most movies I just wait til they come out on DVD with subtitles.

Thanks Ward!

Sooooo, your saying he is kind of tough then. Got it! ;)

So, globally this movie has already hit $1.2 billion. Almost half a billion in the US alone.

I think it’s got another good weekend of $70-80 million in the US before it loses some steam to Deadpool and Solo in consecutive weeks. I think it tops $1.5 billion global, but comes up short of $2 bil.

Awesome movie!!, I've already seen it twice and will probably see it at least once more - I was curious how they would adapt it from the comics

Some Random thoughts:

They were 6 inches away from getting the gauntlet off thanos' hand when Quill has his freak out - Why didn't Strange use the time stone then for a do over?

Some of the other MCU movies have had an effect on the SHIELD tv show, curious if this one will as well - still not sure if it will get renewed for a 6th season yet - it'll be a last minute decision one way on another

Wakanda's force field can stop a gigantic spaceship crashing into it but some of the aliens are able to push their way through? what's up with that??

I thought that Adam Warlock would make an appearance (since he played such a crucial part in the comics) wasn't that his pod at the Guardian's 2 post credits scene

I also thought that Hela would fill the death role for the comics too

I'm a little surprised that we haven't seen Peter Jackson style extended versions of the MCU movies yet

I don't think Strange wanted to change the outcome. He said what happened is the only way.

Its unfortunate AoS is probably ending this season because if my theory is correct next season could have been really fun.

I believe Thanos wiped the people who dusted from existence and Avengers 4 will largely be a What If world where those people never existed. What effect would that have on SHIELD? If Nick Fury never existed SHIELD is a much different place.

AoS could have run an entire season in that What If world leading into Avengers 4. There could have been little hints something isn't right, maybe even introduce a character that knows the truth. It could have been glorious (if I'm right, and I'm 97% sure I am).
