The best thing the Saints could do by Alvin Kamara is to trade him to a contender. (1 Viewer)

They should trade him and Lattimore before the deadline and start the rebuild. Hire a new GM , Front Office and Head Coach

If they move Kamara and / or Lattimore they will leak it was a culture thing like they’ve done many times before.

Trade him to the Chiefs or the Bills for whatever you can get for him. He’s earned it. I handled Rickey Jackson going to the 9ers, I could handle this.
Sad to say it but I agree.

What do you mean he deserves….you act like he and other players are playing here for peanuts. They are no different than any other player on a losing team and don’t deserve any more benefits than the others. It’s part of the business.
Lol. Lattimore done put in WAY more work and contribution than most other dudes on this team, and as a fan I would like to see him go somewhere to get a ring after the blood and sweat he gave us for years playing at a constant high level. As a fan, I'd like to see that for him. There's a difference between compensation and appreciation. Guess that's something you don't realize.

Doing right by the player has hurt the Saints more than anything. We've handed out large "retirement" contracts to guys who didn't deserve them based on the production we would get from then under their extension, but instead paid them for previous performance which they were already compensated for.

Cam's recent performance dictates he should be unemployed or in the booth, but he's paid on a "retirement" contract to keep him around stealing money and a roster spot from a young player who could help with the rebuild.
great take and accurate. If we could get a 3rd possible 2nd for AK take it.
I don't think he resigns with Saints in offseason-- We would be eating a lot of dead money

You aren't getting a 2nd or 3rd for a 29-year-old RB, half-season rental. No one is going to pay his 2025 contract so an immediate extension would be needed.

4th at the most. Probably a 5th.

Chicago Bears have 2 seconds and a third rd pick this coming year.
KC has (2) 3rds one from Titans so that would be a high 3rd rd
Washington Redskins have (2) 3rds - they might believe they are 1 player closer to playoffs.

I say Lattimore as well. He deserves an realistic shot at a ring. He will never get it here.
If Marshon could stay on the field he would be helping the situation. Look at games played last 4 years----came out hurt in Broncos game to ---then again who isnt hurt

I haven't posted on here in about 10 years I just came to say I'm disgusted at people thinking its a good idea to trade ALVIN KAMARA and MARSHON LATTIMORE.

There's some moves that need to be made but any team or coach would JUMP to have those two players.
Its tough love-it's a goal oriented league and a young mans league. AK has been a warrior and played thru injury at times--he's hurt now but playing. but Saints going nowhere fast--gotta rebuild with assets other teams need. We need influx of young starter talent.

I don't Latt is really hurt. He came out after he got ran over by Nix. He has a "Davanta Adams Hammy Injury", so one that will heal as soon as he's traded. Last week Adams was dealing with a hammy, he got traded and was a full participate on Day 1 with the Jets and is expected to be full go on Sunday.

I do agree that AK's trade value isn't as high as many think on here, however, a team who is in the playoff hunt or a legit SB contender might be willing to over-pay a little to get a RB with his skillset. The Chiefs are a great example as is Washington. Washington has 2 injury prone RB with Ekeler and Robinson, if they add a 3rd in AK, they might be able to finish the season with a RB.

IMO

If he is traded it should be the for the best deal for the Saints. He has performed but has also been paid for that performance, they owe him nothing else.

Which would you pick?
1) Trade him to a contender for a low pick that may produce a OL or DL of average ability.
2) Trade to a dumpster fire team for a high pick that may produce a starting QB that helps this team win for the next 10 - 15 years.

Every transaction should be to better the team.

Why would any non-contender or 'dumpster fire team' deal for AK??
Outside of maybe KC, there are simply no clean fits out there for AK...unless an major injury befalls a starting RB in the next few weeks, it is going to be tough to find a suitor. Only other small possibilities to my eye are; MIN if Jones injury ends up being worse than thought, WAS if B Robinson can't get his knee right or perhaps IND if Taylor can't get past his chronic ankle injury.
I still think a 4th RD pick is absolutely the most compensation we can expect for him.

I wasn't clear in my post.

If the team wants to trade a player then the team should try to get the best possible deal for the team not ever the player.

The OP was that the team should trade AK to a conterder to do him right, IMO that is the wrong approach. If there's more than one interest team then the best deal for the team (and fans) should be the only consideration.

I don't think the team should trade any player if it's not good for the team.

It’s essentially only going to be teams making real playoff runs that are going to part with a pick or picks to add what would essentially be a one year rental at RB.

Now that I've thought about it, I still think Kamara should be a lifer. The return you'll get for him doesn't equate to how good he can still be. We saw that the first few games of the season. He's still got it.
