The Timing for the Steelers Game Couldn't be Worse (4 Viewers)

Why do we always end up playing "trap" games? Not only do we play the Steelers, but next week we play the Bengals, who are also struggling, in the Dome. This never happens to the Falcons or Panthers.

... the Falcons have "trap" seasons for goodness sake! They have never had back to back winning seasons.

All the Saints need to do in this next game is protect the ball and no stupid penalties. If they do that AND the Steelers play well enough to win, so be it.

After 39 years of watching the Saints, I don't believe in the "trap" game theory. Otherwise the Saints would have been undefeated by now. Don't all the other teams automatically think "W" when they play the Saints?

All teams have bad games and we saw that against the Ravens. Even really good, solid teams have a couple of bad games a season. The key is consistency. So far we've seen more of that on offense in a season than I can recall.

So, if the Saints go into Pittsburg and have excessive penalties and turnovers, then I might start becoming concerned (that would be 2 ugly games in 3 weeks). But if they don't turn the ball over excessively OR do the stupid penalty thing, then a loss is still OK with me.

I'll take consistency any day of the week. 9 times out of 10, that's what wins in the NFL.

Reggie will score three TD's and the Steelers will be done.

the steelers can score quickly with ward (he scares me), if they do then we will get away from our running game and it will be on Brees to catch up and outscore them. We did this @ green bay, but couldn't do it at home to the ravens. I'm guessing they will try to emulate their division rivals plan to dismantle the Saints. Whether they can pull it off remains to be seen

We'll get away from our running game? What running game? We use quick short passes already, because the running game has been dead for weeks.

Don't know if this has been posted (really don't feel like going through this thread to find out)

-- Willie Parker Questions Steelers Hunger & Trust --
Tue Nov 7, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

The Post Gazette reports Steelers HC Bill Cowher has to deal with the aftermath of public comments from RB Willie Parker, who questioned his teammates' hunger. He also suggested the Steelers are too full of themselves after winning the Super Bowl last season and said there's no "trust" that each player has the next guy's back.

In the words of Dennis Green, The steelers are who we thought they were, thats why we took the damn field. If u wanna crown em then crown their *** but the steelers are who we thought they were.

Dan, I thought heckuva or any resemblance was forbidden, and that bad feeling you have is the flu. remedy one bottle of vicks nyquil, 1 brick of exlax and i know after 24 hours you will be hopping around :p

I was feeling impartial about this game now you went and done it.
Where is my chicken little hat

"This game scares me"
"This is a trap game"
"We're in trouble this week"

Dude, there's a difference between showing the opposition some respect, and then just showing a lack of confidence and swagger in your own team, and I feel that many Saints fans still are not confident that this team can win tough games. What else do they have to do? And, did you really think that we were going 15-1 or 14-2? The Baltimore game has totally taken the air out of many Saints fans. Never in my life have I seen/heard so many complaints after your team just destroyed the opposition 31-14..... and if it weren't for the respect shown by us in the 4th - it could have been worse. Sure, we have issues that need to be addressed, but so does each of the other 31 teams in the league.
Every week, it's "I'm scared, or this is a trap game", Is this like some type of psychological game or something? I'm just curious - please don't take this as me disrespecting your views, but as a fan, it has to be kind of uncomfortable to go through the season scared of every game. We aren't the Cardinals or the Raiders, or the Saints of 2005.
If we lose, we're 6-3, and I think that this team has more than shown that they can bounce back from a bad loss, and even bounce back from adversity within a given game. They could have crumbled Sunday when the game went to 17-14, but instead, they decided it was better to hang 14 more on the Bucs (stylishly I might add), and then hold on to the ball for eternity to put the game away.

In other words, I look forward to the challenge of playing the Steelers in their house. Win or lose, we will be competitive for all 4 quarters. And then, there will still be 7 games left to play, regardless.

obviously the odds-makers think the Steelers will win, so they picked them as a 4 point favorites.....but I like our chances!

OK.....let's talk about it.....like it or not, we're a one dimensional team.....our running game is a non factor against better Ds, but our short passing game is SUPERB!.....how good is our passing game?? good enough to make Monte Kiffin's D getting BURNED DEEP by Dewery Henderson TWICE!!......where was the Safety help on those DH TDs??....they were doubling up on Colston, who LOOKS MORE AND MORE LIKE A SUPER STARR WR than a rookie!...defenses have to deal with him, and must figure out some kind of defensive schemes to cover him, and NOT GET EXPOSED like the Bucs D have!

I do like our chances especially now that Brees is getting more and more confy with Colston.......that connection will be the difference, IMO........

It will be a hard game, but they are more banged up than we are. This will be our advantage. Their CBs are small and build for speed. Colston has the advantage as usual but unlike Tampa, they can easily match Henderson's speed.

If the media is on our bandwagon then the losses will come rolling in. It happens every single time.

Dan, if we come out with a win next Sunday, I just may get my reservations for Miami! The Saints are as well a coached team in the NFL these last 8 weeks, but I absolutely agree that Pittsburgh is going to be one tough challenge. Home, in desperate straights, and with the that Steeler pride, makes for one hungry and motivated team.

I hope we can handle the initial onslaught as there could very well be one, but I don't feel too confident. Now, I know we are going to lose some more over the next 8 weeks, and if one is Pittsburgh, I can handle that as long as we can get home and beat Cinn. One and One in those two game is a success IMO!

It could be that last week was their big focus game, and they shot their bolt with their best game of the season but just couldn't hang on to the ball. You'd think that if there was going to be a "kitchen sink" game it would be against a big AFC playoff rival that they beat in the AFC championship game on the way to the Super Bowl last year.

I'm with SaintJ on this one... the Steelers won't be pushovers, but the Denver game was the make/break game for them, and they broke.

The cowher retirement rumours are gonna hit full steam starting this week (they've been on-going, but I expect them to really hit the forefront).

The Parker quote about lack-of-trust is also now in the background.

If there was a team that was going to blow-up, I'd have never thought it'd have been a Cowher coached team, but it seems like it is.
