i agree that Brees is trying to do too much at times....but what choice does he have??

the running game just is not there....he threw 49 passes.....

we are going to have to find that running game if we want another Lombardi

I'd like our O-line to do something besides stand there and be fat.

Yeah, they aren't getting any push in the running game and they were letting guys run free at Brees all night long. Hell on the Abraham interception it was only a 3 man rush and Bushrod let Abraham run right past him without even giving him a chip. Then he just stood there with nobody to block. Bushrod didn't touch anyone on that play and it was the same story on several other plays. I heard Brees say that play was a screen so Bushrod probably was not supposed to fully engage Abraham, but you have to at least give him a chip to give Brees a little time to get the screen off. And, it's a big part of the reason Brees is throwing interceptions. In addition to what Uproar said about him pressing to make up for the lack of running game, when you have no time to throw you are going to make dumb mistakes from time to time.

The middle of the line has played like crap all year, but they were better than the tackles last night. Bushrod was bad and Stinchcomb wasn't much better. He made one block on a screen last night and that's about it. He was great getting outside on the screens and sweeps last year, but he hasn't done that this year. It's probably not the right time to make changes going into the playoffs, but I hope to see some changes in the offseason. Nicks and Evans aren't going anywhere and they have the talent to be the best Guard combo in the NFL, but hopefully Tenant can take Goodwins' spot and Brown can take over at LT with the possibility of moving Bushrod to RT which would seem to be his more natural position.

Speaking of the picks...

I've had a superbowl hangover since... well since the SB. If they lost, it wasn't that difficult to deal with. I mean it bothered me, but it wasn't the end of the world.
We'd already been to the end of the world, bought the t-shirt, sent some postcards, climbed the mountain, found the wise old man at the top and kicked him in the jiblets.

I hadn't really put much thought into the individual struggles of the team though.

I think I'm over the SB hangover though, and I'm ready to take another trip to the end.

I said basically the same thing to someone last night. All year I've been a little apatehtic. I still wanted wins and didn't like it when they lost, but it didn't mean everything to me. Anything they did this year seemed like lagniappe. But somewhere in the third quarter of last night's game it started to really matter to me. I needed them to win again and I needed them to be in the playoffs. I just suddenly realized that if they lost, they might not even be in the playoffs and that that would really take some of the shine off of being a Saints's fan. And, had they not made the playoffs I wouldn't feel like a fan of the World Champs anymore and I just didn't want that to end.

Throwing the ball almost 50 times in a game will make it tougher on the Oline to pick up the pass rush 50 out of 50 times... thus causing #9 look like #2(double meaning) on occasion.

There isn't much choice when your oline isn't getting it done in the running game. The only back that has really been able to run this year is Chris Ivory and that's more because he makes his own holes than anything the o-line is doing.

And, that still wouldn't excuse guys running untouched at your QB with only a 3 or 4 man rush.
