Looking forward to going over the all 22, got spoiled by the Thursday night game because the Prime Vision (or whatever they call it) is practically the sideline all 22 so I could look at it immediately.
One random play caught my eye as I’m watching the condensed replay, it was a 3rd and 3 completion to JJ for the first. It was the exact same play we ran on 3rd and 1 against the Bucs that no one loved because Carr went deep to Shaheed, except this time Carr went to his progression instead of the alert and picked up the first.
If we can protect Carr and Carr can trust and throw the concepts, I like the direction we’ll be heading in.
We haven’t always gotten the matchups we wanted, and even when we did, we would miss through some combination of bad o-line play combined with Carr not playing very well.you talking that contested catch?
I just feel we had a much better synchronization of play calls, along with execution. Agree line played better which allowed for some progression. We also did a good job of targeting the middle.
For instance that AK choice route matched up vs LB who was taking away inside route. Play call was perfect to have LB isolated on AK. That's what we have been struggling with lately.
But line blocking better opens up options for PC and this offense. If he (PC) can see what to call and when based on our play (meaning line ) we might be ok. I just need to see consistency from all before I get giddy.
A fair complaint, but also true that Carr is never going to make the right read every play because he's not an elite QB and never will be.One of the first gripes I can come up with for Carr was with 12 seconds left in the 3rd. We ran what looked like four verts for the second time in a row (no one complains when it works), but Carr should have gone to Kamara twice in a row instead of forcing it to JJ in the endzone. Kamara had all kinds of space and another 1v1 matchup against a linebacker.
Didn’t matter since Kamara finished the drive with an 11yd TD run on the next play.
Agree, almost indirectly trying to make that point with my post. If he was relatively mistake free for the first three quarters and then for the remainder of the game, we can’t ask much more from himA fair complaint, but also true that Carr is never going to make the right read every play because he's not an elite QB and never will be.
We have to play team football to win at this point.
PREACH38 points from all offensive scoring. Everything was clicking and going the offense’s way today. This is the explosive offense that we expected to see coming out of TC.
We finally see why Carr was paid 37M per year. 70.4%, 310 yards and 2 TDs. Big hookups to Thomas. 2 deep completions to Shaheed, one was a TD. He didn’t have trouble going through progressions and hit the open man at ease. Carr could’ve had a bigger day if not for a couple drops by Olave.
Blocking was great in run and pass protection. Offense was 3-3 in the redzone. Taysom did Taysom things. Carmichael’s playcalling was consistently good all game.
This team can easily take this division if they stay consistent like today’s performance going forward.
Very true. Their passing D is statistically better than teams like Philly and Tampa, so it was nice to see. You can only play who’s on the other sidelineI think Indy is 30th in defense but yea. If they do it again next week I'll believe
They don’t have to be perfect all year long. But expecting them to have more good than bad games is a reasonable expectation with the talent on offense. So far half way through the year it’s been much more bad than good. If they can do the opposite for the second half of the year, then look out. While I do hope this was a turning point, the last time we had a really good offensive showing we lost the last two in a row.
Carr & the O-line looked a lot better. I do like how he fed MT. MT and AK are the engine that runs this team. Olave and Shaheed are the turbo’s and Williams in the 4 wheel drive, all did well today.
They actually looked like they were having fun again like the first two games.
Turning point?
Lets stop getting ahead of ourselves and keep things in perspective. Offense has improved but there is still tons of things to work on for this to be an actual good team and not a 7 and 9 team.
