Titan fans NOT happy about the no call on the forced fumble (1 Viewer)

Not going to be popular with this opinion but we would be too. I have seen too many thread about refs and inconsistent calls and we got away with one honestly. I am so surprise they didn't call that one. Base on my understanding, he may have hit him with his shoulder but any contact to the other player's head or neck will always, regardless if you lead with your shoulder or not, will draw a flag. That should of been a flag. Down vote it if you want but you know if it was the other way around, you guys would be furious too.
Some of our fan base has been so tormented by being on the wrong end of so many terrible calls and non-calls that we confuse "not getting screwed for s change" to "getting away with one."

Here's why it was the correct call.

  • A receiver attempting to catch a pass who has not had time to clearly become a runner. If the player is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player
  • The intended receiver of a pass in the action during and immediately following an interception or potential interception. If the player is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player.
Note: Violations of this provision will be enforced after the interception, and the intercepting team will maintain possession.
Inherently, because the player was ruled to have made a football move, and clearly did, he became a runner. At which point a shoulder to helmet hit is not a penalty.

Just asking - If he were to get fined for this (and who knows what the NFL front office will do, really?), Do we need to start getting concerned about CJGJ getting a suspension at some point? He's been fined multiple times this year.

I saw some idiot post the Saints fan base is the most obnoxious, I wish a 2nd Hurricane Katrina would wipe them out, or something like that. Man, what type of forked up people live in TN? Also, anyone who went to the game, how was the atmosphere there?

Dude, you may have a random idiot or two but for the most part, people here are great. The Saints fans pretty much took over the stadium yesterday. I didn't see ANY issues with fans before, during, or after the game. There was 1 guy near me who was crying about the no call but that's about it.

The ref on tv (Blandino) said he got both feet down and was not considered defenseless which is why it was a non call.

I don’t know if it should have been called or not but I see a lot of plays where the defender comes in clean but the ball carrier lowers his head at the last second while trying to get down and puts his head into the path of the defender’s shoulder or body. In those cases the defender looks guilty yet the head contact was purely accidental. I don’t like seeing innocent defenders get penalized for those. Those plays happen every game and usually are not called.

By letter of the rule, Kamara was not horse collared. The defender has to pull him down with his hand inside the back of the shoulder pad, or from the back of the jersey near the nameplate. The defenders hand was on the front of his shoulder. I’m basing this off the angles shown on TV, but maybe there is some other angle showing differently. But still the play was dangerous and serious injury could occur.

I think it was close enough to go either way... which normally means the Saints will get the flag. It was nice that for once we got the benefit of the doubt, but in the playoffs we need to try and avoid ref judgment calls.

It’s another one of those iffy, judgement calls that could go either way. Good no-call IMO. CGJ was not head hunting at all. It just so happened that the receiver lowered his head and CGJ’s shoulder pad made contact with it. Clean hit, and I would say the same had it happened to us.

That sounds like a Falcons fan that got tired of Atlanta and moved to TN. They love to show how classy they are and make Katrina jokes whenever they can.

That line is so Chicago 2006. It was pathetic then, and it's pathetic and tired now. But I guess that's as creative as a Titans fan can be.
