Did some quick research. The story originates in a Dutch news paper HLN which is described as "sensation-oriented, popular-populist newspaper" by Wikipedia. The story is behind a pay wall so I can't evaluate it.

I translate that description to mean very likely to be pro Russian, pro Putin, pro nationalists.

And it's not Dutch weapons they say have been transferred, it's Belgian weapons.

I smell a toxic rat.

The Militant Wire is definitely a pro Russian, pro Putin publication as 10 out of 12 comments at the end of the story are by rabid Russian/Putin supporters.

The story comes from a photo which both the Dutch HLN and the Militant Wire uses:

The guy in the center is carrying a Belgian FN-SCAR rifle. Which is made in both Belgium and the US in Columbia, South Carolina. It is commonly available on the civilian market world wide.

The finish on that rifle doesn't look military, it looks like something fancy from the civilian market.

The story is thin. I think Ukrainian's will have little trouble calming the diplomatic waters since it was after all the Belgium manufacturer who opened a factory in the US, and then put that weapon on the civilian market.
