Ukraine (55 Viewers)

Every time I see something about Ukraine is tired or weary with the West, I’m reminded of a story. I have to say I fully support and understand how Ukraine must feel.
That being said, here’s the story.
Around 1981 or 82 my stepdad decided to get out of the horse business. These were purebred horses and were worth a lot of money in early 80s dollars. Instead of selling them off he donated them to a boy’s home somewhere here in Mississippi. He had no illusions about the organization selling those horses for cash. Which they did. A few months later they sent him a letter thanking him for his donation. Then in bold, “but it’s not enough!” He never donated again.
That seems to be what Ukraine is flirting with.
I mean this in all due respect. It's a good story, and I see what you're getting at, but it's still not a good comparison. Ukraine is fighting for their survival, and pretty much everyone who knows and understands the Ukraine-Russia conflict realizes that without the help of the West, they will lose to Russia.

I think we all understand also that we have never given Ukraine full autonomy to use the weapons they receive as they see fit. It's always some excuse like we don't want to goad Poots into using nukes, or provoke a wider war or start WW3.

The thing is, it's clear Ukraine is capable of defending themselves if we're fully supportive of the effort. No more half-measures. Poots and Russia have shown themselves to be paper Tigers. Push them out of Ukraine and they'll fold like a cheap suit.

It should be a crime to call her anything besides National Treasure Dolly Parton.
That’s the best version of the American Dream right there.

Not a big fan of her music (although hearing Hard Candy Christmas gets me misty if I’ve had a drink or two), but it just shows that someone can do the filthy rich thing without forgetting their roots and becoming a total tool.

The next financial injection from the European Union, which will include revenue from frozen Russian assets, will be given to Ukraine according to a new model. The money will be distributed through programs from the EU budget and not through the so-called EU Peace Fund. This deprives Hungary and its Prime Minister Viktor Orban of the opportunity to block the decision. The agreement on this is expected to be concluded in the next two days.

Good, whatever cuts them out works for me.

Is someone paranoid?

Maybe I need to be more paranoid. I'm quite sure that two years ago my Twitter account was set to follow Anders Aslund's account, I didn't notice that his account link was removed from my account, I don't even know when that was done.

I didn't notice until you posted one of his tweets.
