Do they not have IFF? How do they identify aircraft? Or are they just incompetent?

It was over Chechen territory and with recent drone attacks on Grozny, they were probably hyper active and just fired at it. Training isn't something I envision is a high priority.
Especially in Chechen/Kadyrov territory.

First videos emerging of the NK troops frontal assault with no mechanized or arty support.

I dont exactly know how these men agree to do this.

Considering their country's leader is the third dictator in the Kim family, a brutal, Orwellian Stalinist-styled "Communism in One Family" regime that portrays its leaders, achievements, or its rule as akin to some Marxist-Leninist "Holy Trinity" and Kim Jung-Un is equivalent with being "Son of God" and that most North Koreans live in desperate, abject poverty (that's always been well-hidden) and only loyal diehard party members of North Korea's ruling party and their families are allowed to live in Pyongyang, the capital: do they really have much of a choice, Elf?

They've been brainwashed to believe that North Korea is literally Paradise on Earth, every other country, people even close allies like the Chinese are morally, ethically corrupt and warrant their eternal suspicion, if not enmity.

You ask how these men agreed to do this? Are you so sure that some of them even had a choice at all. These men are disposable geopoliitical pawns on a chessboard in a deal their "Supreme Leader" made with Putin because he needed more rockets and more men for the never-ending meat-grinder, Pyhrric conflict in Ukraine that will break Putin, Russia economically, militarily and from a manpower-perspective even if they manage to procure some halfway-decent armistice.

that's because he knows the only way the war is over is when Russia pulls out of all occupied territory and Putin will not do that voluntarily. Trump giving in to Putin will make even his MAGAs raise an eye brow..
True Daddy, there's also the added possibility that unlike from 2017-2021, Trump might feel or try to show he isn't Putin's little lap dog anymore, his perceived, pathetic "birch" in front of the international community and our NATO allies. Seeing how badly the war in Ukraine is going and its disastrous impacts on Russian domestic economy, plus sanctions, Putin knows that any military victory or amenable stalemate/armistice won't come without enormous manpower and resources lost not seen since end of WWII and it'll take years for the Russian economy, entire oil/natural gas infrastructure, armed forces to fully recover from this boondoggle. This is arguably Russia's worst geopoliitical mistake/military blunder since 1979-89 Soviet invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and even their, Soviet losses paled in comparison to RuAF forces are piling up. His long-reliable erstwhile Middle East client-state with Assad regime in Syria was overthrown and gone.

Putin needs Trump to find some desperate way to end this war as soon as possible and despite all his loud-mouthed bluster and hard-headed idiotic stubbornness, I have serious doubts Trump can pull it off because whatever deal he offers or tries to negotiate, Zelensky won't trust him because of his past positive support of Putin. The power-dynamic balance has been upended and although he's a political novice, Trump or his close advisors realize this.
