So, with the sole exception of the migration reference in his first point, this Administration would have cut a deal with Hitler post-Dunkirk.

Got it.
The admiration for Putin has always been there. he tries to hide, but it always rears its ugly head evenually..

I just realized why this week is so maddening.

For decades, anytime we made any kind of diplomatic compromise, the so-called tough-guys would say "Appeasement! You're just like the Allies at Munich! You're weak!"

But what we did this week literally is what the Allies did at Munich, and the so-called tough-guys are defending it.

The WH better get a handle on this free press issue or people might actually start questioning their intelligence....
I was listening to Nuel Norman on WWL this morning. He is a very staunch conservative and has
defended Trump more times than I care to remember. This morning he did a different take. He
mentioned a poll he saw where 81% of the voters sided with Ukraine. He said if Trump doesn't
change his stance he's going to start losing support from the American people. We'll know soon
if he's right.

I'm not so sure he cares or is worried about what the people think, believe, want, or need.

well whaddya know....

US delivered a "re-worked" deal to Ukraine.

Analagous to the bully threatening to take your lunch money until you punch him in the nose. Then he wants to make nice and be your friend.
I'm not buying it until the deal is signed. As with these things, the devil is in the details.

The ramifications of this "threat" and the fallout will be historic. Boiled down to its simplist terms, we know who the good guys and the bad guys in this situation are. We know who provoked the war and who has been committing horrendous war crimes. The messaging from the WH is total fabrication. But to what end is it seeking? Siding with the evil empire is bad enough, but that empire is now severely crippled militarily and economically. We're not even benefitting in any way by moving to the dark side.

Congress needs to grow a pair and step in, but the only ones that had a spine are not in office.

It's being brushed off as hyperbole, but we are truly witnessing the unravelling of our democracy. It was a good 250 year run. I always thought our system was too good to collapse.

Oh no doubt. If anything, maybe it buys them a little time.
This.

And it buys Europe time to finally get their act together and face the new reality, which very likely is more than a four year issue for European security.

The old saw about "when someone tells you who they are, believe them" certainly applies here. They haven't done nearly enough over the last 8 years to prepare themselves for what Trump clearly told them about his European/NATO/Ukraine policy.

It really feels like the late '30s - I'm just hoping it's the equivalent of 1936 and not 1939.

Democracy is fragile. Apathy is the biggest enemy. I'll never forget one of my professors telling us this.

I find it hard to believe that his cult would abandon him.
