UnitedHealth CEO shot (2 Viewers)

It's not surprising. At one point mega corporations were loathed by one side and embraced by the other, now that seems to be switching as the sheer love of huge pharmaceutical companies and you can't dare question anything they do now because they made a certain vaccine or weight loss drug. Never mind big pharma companies have the largest fines in history due to misleading and outright fraud of their products.
For sure none of what we call "healthcare" these days is health care. And I want all of that shouted about and vilified. But I don't think what Luigi did is going to foster that in the long run and I'm not going to cheer it.

Nope, it's not a binary choice.....Like way too many folks in this country it's just plain stupid.....
Indeed. Like Super Luigi, the thirsties that just want to fill up his commissary, they really haven't quite thought this whole situation out. For one thing, Mr. Anti-Capitalist will only be getting un-Happy Meals in prison, not hash browns from McDonald's or Kind bars at Starbucks.

Mr. Mangione's current lawyer is a local attorney from Altoona named Dickey.

I'm curious if people so outraged at the shooting of the CEO are also equally outraged when police shoot and kill someone. In many cases police are excused and even heralded as heroes, for shooting and killing people.
I’m curious as to how many of these same people outraged at him getting gunned down have, in the last 5 years, at any point written letters/emails or made phone calls to their local and/or state representatives that something needs to be done to reform predatory health insurances and prevent medical care from bankrupting people or advocating for single-payer insurance? In the past I may have even questioned how they voted but at this point it doesn’t matter because both parties are completely corrupted by their wealthy donors and lobbyists.

All this hooting and hollering online about “violence isn’t the answer” & condemning people for feeling ambivalent about a filthy rich predatory sleaze-ball CEO getting gunned down yet not a single letter/email/phone call to their representatives to pressure them to change things in this country. Please spare me.

could you now imagine a serial killer like Charles Mason or Richard Ramirez with social media?

They had groupies galore WITHOUT the benefit of social media.

Exactly what I thought when I saw M's post.....

When was this surfing accident in Hawaii? Asking because I saw this article today

Although Mangione did mention his back injury—which has been widely speculated to have sparked resentment against the health insurance industry, perhaps motivating the killing—the source suggested that it didn’t often seem to limit his involvement in activities such as hiking and motorcycling.

Based on photos the source shared with TMZ from the trip, Mangione seemed to be having a good time. He can be seen playing pool in a local bar and grinning on the back of a motorcycle as he flips a characteristically Hawaiian shaka hand gesture—a symbol of carefree enjoyment.

I don't think there are as many people "outraged" at the fact he got gunned down, but more so that there are people outright cheering the killer on and hoping he got away with murder.

That's the boat I am in. Certainly, I am shedding no tears over Thompson (I don't even know the man, so why would I?) but definitely believe it is sick that there are people cheering over it.

I don't understand it

Well if he was anywhere near Thailand, got injured and went to hospital, only to have to pay $8, ( as @Mr. Blue Sky has posted here recently about ) that might have spurred something.

its social media coupled with anonymity - where folks can go online, say some really really stupid stuff, get a bunch of "likes" ( ignore the negative replies ) and that produces some sort of satisfaction for them.

There are little to no consequences for being stupid on social media. Sure, you will hear stories of a person getting fired for social media posts, but thats far and few between.

20 years ago, you had to SIT DOWN, write a letter, and MAIL IT to the editor/news agency in HOPES it gets read.

Today you can respond immediately to their web page reviews, or social media platform. Takes 30 seconds AND will be seen by 100s of 1000s of people. Many of whom will "like" your post, boosting your status.

The article claims that this vacation was within months of the assassination. Maybe I am wrong, but hasn't it been reported that he suffered from a chronic spine issue that made his life hell? That even physical intimacy was an issue for him?
