USA Today Ranks Dennis Allen Worst Head Coach in the League (1 Viewer)

MUCH better talent on this roster than both New York teams.

Daboll won a playoff game.

DA has yet to beat a team with a winning record (that eagles game doesn't count) with us or the raiders. I just don't understand how anyone can defend him at this point. He's easily a bottom 5 coach and I don't blame anyone that ranks him as the worst in the league.
This times a thousand. People seem to forget that while we had a 9-8 record last year, we were blown out for 3 quarters by any team with a semblance of a pulse. I will not believe in DA until he proves he can win consistently, and as it stands I want him off my team.

He may not be the worst, but he’s definitely bottom 5, and when it really comes down to it, even at the NFL level, does it really make that much of the difference who takes the turd crown?

We lost to all of the good teams that we played. Jax, Det, GB, Tx. were all close games. Which showed we were a good team. But we got smoked vs the Shannan tree in Minn and the Rams. This told us, we need a new OC period, if we want to be a GREAT team. We showed heart at the end beating TB and ATL. TB was our most impressive win becaue they advanced in the playoffs. But they were technically 8-8 at the time. Which makes the above cherry picked statement, that we didn’t beat a winning team, true. Regardless of the past, this team brilliantly realized what it needed to do, and did exactly that. They hired the Godfathers Son and his henchmen of the system that has been repetitively rocking us for years. One thing you have to give them credit for, when they realize that they have a need, they go out and fill that need ASAP with quality. I truly have hope in the Saints this year. My only concern is how fast can our offense absorb this new system into their DNA.

I was never a huge Haslett fan but even he was more of a head coach than DA. DA will always be remembered as the really good defensive coordinator who bit off more than he could chew at the head coach table. The next coach could already be in the building in Kubiak if things play out with the offense improving drastically as many expect they do this season. That schedule this year will have us around 8 or 9 wins but won't be enough for DA to keep his job.

Allen is 16-18 as head coach of the saints
Daboll is 15-18-1 as the head coach of the Giants.
Saleh is 18-33

Allen as the Saints Head Coach has a higher winning percentage than either of those guys,

He also inherited a significantly better team, in the worst division in the NFL. His GM made all-in moves 2 years in a row to try and win a playoff game which hasn't happened despite having the easiest schedule in the NFL. No other way to put it other than he's been a failure. Which is just a carry over from his days as the Raiders HC where he spectacularly failed.

I don't buy USA Today's conclusion at all, but this may ultimately be a good thing, if the players and coaching staff take offense and are determined to prove otherwise during the 2024 season.

Bottom 10 or Bottom 5.

The tie breaker that gets him to the bottom is apologizing to the HC of our most hated rival for scoring a TD.

How many here feel that you just can’t beat ATL by enough and any TD against them is a good TD?

I don't think he should have apologized. At the same point, I don't think the players should have done what they did lining up in Victory formation and then running the ball. If they had lined up like they were running a play I would have no issue with it and, in fact, I think they should have been trying to score to run up the score on a rival. But, doing it out of Victory formation lulls the other team into not playing and that's how guys get hurt. It's just a chicken sheet thing to do.

And, to be clear, I think DA is a mediocre head coach. He's probably bottom half of the league but ranking him last is way over the top for a guy that won 9 games last year and 8 the year before. There are much worse coaches in the league that aren't elite on either side of the ball and DA is an elite defensive mind and defensive play caller.
