I guess the point about being a rental vehicle is that the rental company should have records of who had possession of the truck at the time it was seen at Eagle Pass and whether it was returned prior to being used in this particular crime. If it was the same person on record in both places, then the investigation will have to include the reasons why the truck was going through Eagle Pass.
Assuming the ID used was a valid ID. Could have been a fake ID. If anything though, they should have video evidence of the renter which could be run through the FBI's database to see if the individual is a known terrorist.

I found this video that speaks about the so-called flag on the back of the truck

Okay. I did see someone mention Nike and I didn't get the full import of the distinction being made. Thanks. At this point there's also other indications why the FBI is involved (starts shooting after the truck is crashed and is in full body camo and out of state plates).

He likely had it wrapped up to avoid having his plan foiled. Someone would have spotted the ISIS flag way earlier and tipped the police off. He probably knew that at some point the jacket would be taken off as a part of the investigation.

Oh, okay, gotcha.

Well, even if the individual was from NO, that shouldn't matter. There are bat sheet people in every city.
I'm pretty sure that I said that in the last line of my post.

Looks like it.

Too early to speculate, but there’s definitely a certain demographic that drives an F150 with Texas plates and a flag flying from the back of it.

Edit: as a matter of fact, it looks like someone (driver or otherwise) put that jacket over the flag specifically to hide what was on the banner. You can clearly see the eye loop of a flag under the jacket

I know what you were getting at and completely wrong in your statement...

The suspect accused of plowing a truck through a crowd on Bourbon Street early Wednesday morning has been identified by a law enforcement source as 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar.

The source said Jabbar was carrying an ISIS flag in the truck, and authorities have said he was dressed in military gear.

There is a Shamsud Din Jabbar from Houston. Doesn't seem to fit the type. But I'm sure people will jump on that and start harassing the guy (assuming it's not the terrorist and he's, like, alive).

You know, commenting on the talk about any other events in NOLA people can remember that this event makes them think of ..... all the local channels are covering this with NO interruptions at least as long as I've been watching since about 6:30. When was the last time THAT happened? Other than hitting Reddit, I haven't looked anywhere else.

Local news is also reporting having talked to a few people in town for the Sugar Bowl who aren't staying.

How many Shamsud Din Jabbars can there be?
