Vehicle plows into crowd on Bourbon St., with 14 fatalities (2 Viewers)

I don't it does, definitionally. The issue is whether there's a political motivation, if my understanding is correct.
When politics are focused on culture wars then it's all political. Whether it be racism, religion, homosexuality, bullying, etc it has all become political which makes every mass shooting terrorism.

Every politician will be throwing sheet at the wall on twitter to see what sticks to get attention. The event itself will become political. Politicians are nothing more than partisan podcasters. So defining what is politically motivated anymore is just about impossible.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I automatically assumed domestic terrorism. With the number of mass shooting in this country, when I hear about terrorism on American soil I automatically think domestic.
Same here. But with that said, most actual terrorist attacks (no matter the source) seem to favor areas/targets that will produce the greatest attention and fear. Cities who are hosting major sporting events would certainly be prime locations for individuals who are hoping to create extensive media coverage for getting their agenda publicized.

When a driver plows into a crowd it is either usually alcohol or terrorism. When they get out shooting it closes any questions.

I've never understood why it matters where someone is from when considering whether it is terrorism or not.

I'm with you on that. I'm Moreso replying to the posts where the mayor was saying "terrorism" and the feds were saying it's not, then the Mackel report indicating that, "well the mayor meant DOMESTIC terrorism" as if that was an aha moment. She was right. This was terrorism. But was anyone's first thought that this was something other than the mass violence we've become accustomed to in this country?

In any other city you'd probably be correct, but in New Orleans 9 out of 10 times , It's a drunk person.

Yep.. a little surreal seeing my hometown on the international news , here on a Wednesday night, from 9,300 miles away in my new home in Asia .

At the VERY least there should be strong consideration to making Bourbon Street pedestrian only, as has been discussed for years .. only my opinion .

The cynic in me wants to point out that it took only 4 posts before we got a post advocating for removing all traffic from Bourbon. We're now on page 5 and there hasn't been a single rebuttal implying that it's not the trucks fault, or that's too drastic or what about law abiding drivers or...

Something to look forward to.

Here's a thought, though, that at least ... the very least ... that at 3:20 a.m., likely none of the victims were children.
Good point, but I'm having trouble seeing anything positive as I didn't hear about it until 30 minutes ago. Not processing yet.
Why are we so damn broken?

9 oit of 10 times? What NOLA monster city have created in your mind? Sir, can you show me a story of someone driving drunk in New Orleans plowing through pedestrians then getting out and shooting while there's an explosive device in the vehicle?

For the record, drunk drivers kill pedestrians in every city, not just New Orleans.

disgruntled psycho u.t. fan taking it out on uga crowd?

remember, "With UGA’s 22-19 win over Texas on Saturday night, Georgia became the first team in more than a century to knock off the Longhorns twice in the same season. Georgia also beat UT 30-15 in Austin back in October."

Well, the thing is that typically every night in the FQ starting around 6 p.m., the streets are routinely blocked off to regular vehicle traffic allowing only residents, deliveries, and emergency. Events like this the times would be earlier and last longer.

On a "good" day, driving through the FQ is fraught with other cars, delivery vehicles, bikes, hansom cabs, pedi cabs, and pedestrian tourists who aren't paying any attention to any of the above.
