Waiver Priority based on current league standings (potential OBJ waiver) (2 Viewers)

I don't think anyone is signing him after the BS he pulled with his dad allegedly posting a polished production of all-22 game film of various plays showing his son wide open and not getting the ball. Yes of course his father really came up with that.

He's poison at this point and hopefully he gets blackballed from playing the rest of this season.
I wonder if anyone is going to make an 11 minute film of OBJ dropping the ball? Or even a video of him making catches? How about making an 11 minute video of ANY WR1 that doesn't get the ball everytime they are open? All of those are valid. He played the timing just right if he wanted out of Cleveland. Now, it's a win/win for him. If someone claims him off waivers, they have to pay him his money...guess what?...If he clears waivers, and someone picks him up in FA, Cleveland is still on the hook for his remaining salary. THAT is what they were discussing with him and his reps. They were probably trying to work out a deal with him where they wouldn't have to pay it all to him if he clears waivers in return for giving him the opportunity to test the FA waters.

Saints do not have the cap room to claim him. They would have to hope he clears waivers.
Would have to hope he clears waivers and that there is no teams interested once he does.

I can see several teams offering him a "rest of the year" prove it deal. All of them have more cap space and I'd imagine that most of them still have avenues of freeing up more space if needed. I think we've just about exhausted our ability to kick the can already.

I could see Raiders, Packers, Ravens, Steelers, Chiefs, Eagles, and even the Patriots making offers. The only advantage we may have over those teams is that he's from New Orleans. But that hometown thing rarely actually comes into play.

Future money in mind, I think Green Bay, Baltimore, and KC would be attractive to him. All teams with SB potential, especially if they had another weapon on offense. He picks the right team, behaves himself, helps them win a Superbowl... next season some team will pay him.

All that being said, my bet is that he ends up finishing the season with the Browns after whatever is going on cools down some.

1. Saints

They reportedly discussed a trade for Beckham prior to the deadline, so it's obvious they're interested. With Michael Thomas now out for the year, they desperately need WR help, and even more so with Jameis Winston also sidelined for good. Beckham might not salivate at the thought of catching passes from Trevor Siemian or Taysom Hill, but he's from the area and would instantly become WR1 again -- likely with a chance to return to the market in 2022.

No team is going to take him on waivers because his contract is horrible. And while he was good, no one really knows what he is now.

If he's cut, I think we sign him.

Agree he's likely to clear waivers.

After that, he's going to have multiple offers. I doubt he chooses to sign with us, but I'd welcome it.

So...what would you do with DeSean Jackson if you are really wanting OBJ. Do you put a claim on DeSean with the chance of getting him, but then in no way would you have the money to go after OBJ....OR.....Do you pass on DeSean and take the risk of OBJ not choosing you out of all his offers (if we could even make the money work)?

Personally I pass on Jackson even if Beckham wasn't in the mix. I feel he's done, but (like most players) still wants to be treated as a star. The same may be true for Beckham...I'm just a little less convinced he's quite as done.

I don't think they "discussed a trade", from what SP said, we looked into it, the same way we looked into others.

I actually think if Beckham is waived he gets fewer offers than most here think he will get. We'll never really know how many, and SOMEONE will probably sign him, but I don't necessarily see some kind of big bidding war.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a bidding war, but I think teams will make him offers. If he's a full free agent with no strings, a handful of teams will throw some kind of offer at him. And that means he has options.

His best course of action would probably be to sign a deal to get through this season and show that he can still play - to set up his ability to sign something more meaningful in the spring. The best way to do that is to sign with a team that gives him a chance to put up some production.

DeSean cleared waivers tonight. He’s open game. I think OBJ will clear, too, based on $$$.

I've seen a few Tweets from reliable people saying that this did discuss a trade, but that they could not make a deal because Cleveland refused to eat enough of this salary and the Saints couldn't fit it under the cap.
