Waiver Priority based on current league standings (potential OBJ waiver) (4 Viewers)

It doesn't necessarily have to be a bidding war, but I think teams will make him offers. If he's a full free agent with no strings, a handful of teams will throw some kind of offer at him. And that means he has options.

His best course of action would probably be to sign a deal to get through this season and show that he can still play - to set up his ability to sign something more meaningful in the spring. The best way to do that is to sign with a team that gives him a chance to put up some production.
Someplace with no other real options at WR?

The more hype I get for something to happen the less likely it is to, I've noticed. So I'm giving up on this one! With the way cleveland restructured him I don't see a chance in hell of him making it to the Saints on waiver wire and even if he did I don't know how they afford him

Would a team care if the player on waivers tells them “please don’t sign me”

Like, would you, as the organization, have enough self respect for yourself to sign someone who said to your face that he doesn’t want to play for you?

Exactly right. Today on Sirius XM Mike Triplett said if he did clear waivers, he'd probably have a lot of suitors and the Saints wouldn't have much to offer. Basically the offer is, we don't have any money to offer (meaning he'd get a minimal salary offer) and you'd be playing with a 2nd or 3rd string QB, but you'd be our #1 WR.
With a super bowl caliber defense, oline and run game. He could possibly make siemian look better giving him better receiving threats

I can see several teams offering him a "rest of the year" prove it deal
IDK, he clearly wants to be a big part of an offense. With MT out and this defense, it's entirely possible he'll decide it's worth a shot. He might be looking at recent history of players reinventing themselves in NO while taking a shot at a ring.

I am still very skeptical that (1) he won't be claimed by someone above us in the pecking order or (2) if he cleared waivers he would opt for the Saints and our 3rd string QB over another contending team who may be able to offer him considerably better than league minimum salary for the rest of the year! Hope it works out as it would be a big win for a team needing playmakers, even one that is a Diva.

Based on the low cost, I think his agent would have to think that most teams are potential claimants. Is he going just start calling all of the ones OBJ doesn't want to play for? I think it's a pretty silly idea.

I've seen a few Tweets from reliable people saying that this did discuss a trade, but that they could not make a deal because Cleveland refused to eat enough of this salary and the Saints couldn't fit it under the cap.
Well, that makes sense. I was just going off of the feel I got from SP's comments in an interview. Of course, SP is probably not entirely honest when it comes to discussing the Front Office's strategy.
