Well I'm going to be even more rigidly biased after watching the Saints/49ers and the no call on the offsides to end the game but I think it's got to be enforced no matter how slight it is once the rule has been made. The thing that drives most fans nuts in the inconsistency to which leagues/refs call fouls. And even one inch forward can be so much more when you consider that the offending player most likely started that burst of movement sooner. I'm all for it being just the feet and not hands, heads, shoulders, and hips but it needs to be called whether it's 10 feet or one inch.I’m not even talking about the semi automatic VAR being used in the WC. EPL interpretations of offsides have been very tight the last few years. It just takes excitement away when you rule off a beautiful goal b/c the guy’s foot was 6 inches past the defender’s when the ball was passed to him.
If there is even a bit of truth to this, Berhalter should be fired post WC.
You, as manager, are responsible for putting best 11 on field. You are also responsible for managing egos and desires, as well as your own.
If true, he isn't doing any of that, and putting US Soccer advance in jeopardy. Over his own tactical mistake in game 1.
more than likely it's a bit more nuanced than that - reports indicate that players typically like being on the team and that greggg supports them and that they play hard for him/each otherIt would certainly support my narrative that Berhalter doesn’t know or care who the best players are….I hope this isn’t true though….

in both instances in today's early match, the forward was a good step or 2 past his man - instinctually that would be offsidesThat makes no sense. They KNOW it is offsides from the moment they see it, but they just let the play continue. They are not waiting for someone upstairs in a booth to tell them.
One thing is voiding a goal after a review upstairs, another is voiding a goal because the line judge didn't call offsides until after the goal was scored, when he knew the play was offsides to begin with.

put it was a defender 15' away from the ball who played him onsides with a sloppy line
3-4 years ago side judge would have raised flags on both of those and have cost cameroon 2pts
I don't know about all that, but he does have issue with subs
But what you describe is NOT offsides. It's never been.in both instances in today's early match, the forward was a good step or 2 past his man - instinctually that would be offsides
