Young couple goes on van tour of US, boy comes back with van - no girl (1 Viewer)

I would think so, hypothetically if an eagle (which are worse than our buzzards here) or a crow the size of a chicken picks at the neck, I would think it would make it hard to determine strangulation.

As someone who watches enough true crime shows I can tell you it won't. I believe with strangulation there is also usually busted capillaries in the face and eyes. There's other ways CSI can determine all sorts of things with the slightest evidence.

As long as the investigators aren't completely useless, most criminals have no chance these days.

I also watch a ton of true crime/murder investigation shows.

About a month or so ago, I began binge watching all seasons of The FBI Files and told my good friend "you know, I already had my PhD in murder but after watching all seasons of the FBI files, I now have a minor in bank robbery & kidnapping".

Think it's been debunked already. It's "fun" to take things and run with them; but while I watch this stuff, I shake my head at most of what the other amateur sleuths say.

Like, OMG, the van door was open and then it closed. I'm not convinced (I think it was due to the jerky nature of the Go Pro video feed). But even if it did, it's only anecdotal.

The door closing (or not) on the van as they approach I find to be legit. I don't see what else would give this illusion.

I don't even get in the debate. It's of no moment.
Determining if the door is opening/closing on a certain date would only play an important part if the autopsy shows she either was already dead or died on that day.
I'm also wondering if he killed her in the van and carried her 900 yds to the other side of the creek, or if he walked her there and then killed her, or did she go on her own, then he left, walking to Jackson Hole, she dies somehow there without him knowing, he returns, finds her body (or not), leaves in the van back to FL.

I don't think the autopsy can show exactly what date she died. We don't have internal batteries that show the date and time our hearts stop.

Actually, they can make a pretty good estimate of how long someone has been dead based on decomposition and insect activity.

Btw, they haven't released a cause of death, correct?

I think in that case, he would have alerted authorities to start a search. The only viable reason to leave there without her, is you don't want to be there when they find her.

Yeah, there a literal body farm in Tennessee where they study decomposition of bodies in various conditions to get a better determination on time of death. They put them fully buried, half, just covered in brush, in trunks of cars, etc in order to see what goes on. Insect activity is a big part of it.
