NFL Draft coverage is beginning to ramp up as football season draws closer. There's still a long way to go between now and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. However, there's plenty of excitement to be had along the way as we develop a better idea of what each roster will look like in Week 1. One of these excitements is the release of win total odds, specifically those of the NFC South.

The NFC South has been turned on its head in recent years. Star signal-callers such as Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan are all gone now. They've left behind a division that's quarterback-deficient for the first time in decades. The New Orleans Saints seemingly have the best of the bunch (as of late March), though, with their star offseason acquisition, Derek Carr.

It would appear that Carr still has quite a few friends in Las Vegas. His new team is being given a win total of 9.5 by oddsmakers, up from 7.5 wins at this point last offseason.

The New Orleans Saints got exactly what they needed in pick no. 14 in round one of the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Oregon State tackle Taliese Fuaga.

With the team's dire need at the offensive tackle position, the selection of Fuaga couldn’t make any more sense for them. There’s been multiple reports that tackle Ryan Ramczyk has lost a lot of weight this offseason potentially indicating his retirement soon. On the other side of the line, the team will look to continue to develop former 1st rounder Trevor Penning in the hopes that he will be the starter this season. In this case, Fuaga...

Why the Saints drafted Taliese Fuaga at pick 14

Finally, we have the answer for who the New Orleans Saints will draft at pick 14: Taliese Fuaga. Surprisingly, the Saints had many options at pick 14, such as Laiatu Latu, Dallas Turner, and Troy Fautanu. Even with those options, the Saints decided on Fuaga, but why?

The Saints desperately needed to draft a certified tackle at pick 14 and could not pass that up. One of the main reasons that the Saints did this was the concerns around Ryan Ramczyk. We may never see him play again, and Fuaga will replace him at right tackle. Another reason the Saints liked Fuaga over other options is...

Report: Saints among teams that tried to trade up for Michael Penix Jr.

The first round of the 2024 NFL draft could have been even wackier. NFL Media’s James Palmer reports that the New Orleans Saints were one of three teams who tried to trade up for Michael Penix Jr., the Atlanta Falcons’ surprise first-round quarterback. Palmer adds that the Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders also tried to get into the top 10 picks targeting Penix.

And that would have been a baffling pick for New Orleans. Derek Carr has his share of detractors after a rough first season in black and gold, so it’s worth looking into a better backup plan than what the Saints fielded last...

With Round 1 of the NFL draft in the books, we got a good idea of what each team in the NFC South was looking to do with their selections. Each team had different needs to fill, with some picks doing so while others were more elective in their choice of positions. Ultimately, it was an interesting first round all around, but specifically for the division, which had what we believe to be good and back picks. Let’s take a look at how we graded out each pick from all four teams in the NFC South.

Brock Bowers would have been in consideration for Saints at No. 14

Few prospects in the 2024 NFL draft caused more discussion among New Orleans Saints fans than Brock Bowers. The Georgia Bulldogs tight end is a phenomenal pass catcher, and it was fun to envision him bringing those skills to New Orleans.

It just wasn’t meant to be. The Las Vegas Raiders picked Bowers at No. 13, one spot ahead of the Saints, making New Orleans’ decision easier. But it was a near thing. If Bowers had lasted one more pick, it would’ve led to a debate in the war room. Just ask Dennis Allen.

“Brock Bowers was in consideration for us. And that he got all the way to, pick 13...

The Carolina Panthers have traded up and selected South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

It was a surprise, but definitely a welcome one for quarterback Bryce Young as they continue to build out the offense. The South Carolina native broke out this season with 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns.

He has a lot of playmaking ability, but has some work to do to become the alpha of a wide receiver room. He’s not too different from their current top receiver Jonathan Mingo.

Now, they will not be drafting at the top of the second round on...

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen did not mince words when describing first-round draft choice Taliese Fuaga prior to making the 6-foot-6, 324-pound offensive tackle the 14th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday.

"We're on the clock here... and we're about to draft you," Allen told Fuaga, who was in Hawaii during the draft. "I can't wait to get you here. You are a tough S.O.B. and that's what I love about you... and that's the way we're gonna play."

During the NFL Combine last month, Fuaga recorded a 5.13 40-yard dash, a 32-inch vertical jump and a...

It’s always cool to see new NFL players receive a life-changing phone call. These are arguably the best moments of the draft each year. And the New Orleans Saints made sure to share the moment that their new first-round pick received his phone call. Oregon State right tackle Taliese Fuaga will be wearing black and gold.

College scouting director Jeff Ireland made the call before passing the phone to head coach Dennis Allen, who greeted Fuaga warmly.

“Taliese, how are you doing brother?” Allen grinned, seated next to Gayle Benson in the team’s war room. “I can’t wait to get you here...
