Alvin Kamara isn't entirely sure what to expect with the new kickoff rules enacted for the 2018 season.

He's eager to find out. His kickoff return for a touchdown last season was the first by a New Orleans Saints player since 2009.

Since that 2009 return, the NFL put rules in place that significantly reduced the number of kickoff returns league wide. The rules for 2018 could cause the number of kickoff returns to rise again, Sean Payton said Thursday (May 24).

"I think in the first quarter of the season you're going to see a safer play," the coach said. "And I think you're also going to see a more exciting play. I think you're going to see teams that approach it with a return in mind that's different."

The Saints currently hold the No. 9 pick in the 1st round, that could change but as of now, that is where they stand. With a pick that high, New Orleans can get a playmaker who will have the ability to come in and immediately make...

With the NFL Draft looming large this week we’re starting out Monday morning with a report from NFL Insider Adam Schefter. His information on the New Orleans Saints seems to dash some cold water on the thoughts of Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders at pick No. 9.

Schefter says there’s a belief around the league that the Saints are more interested in using a high pick on an offensive or defensive lineman. This makes our Caleb Yaccarino’s insight on New Orleans looking to trade up from Pick 40 with potentially an eye on a QB a little spicier.

Schefter reports that a personnel executive said: “I...

The New Orleans Saints are currently entering the 2025 NFL Draft with nine picks: 9, 40, 71, 93, 112, 131, 184, 248, and 254. Trading up is always a worrying thing associated with New Orleans and the NFL Draft. Still, trading up for smaller jumps that do not touch next year’s draft capital should be considered with nine picks to use, which could happen with pick 40. Per Adam Schefter, the Saints have started...
