Note: To all of you Bush Haters... (1 Viewer)

I hate people that make excuses for Bush no matter what he does. If he runs a punt back for a touchdown, I'm happy. If he runs for four or five yards, I'm happy.

If he fumbles a punt, or dances around and gets stuffed, I'm not.

You know why? Because I'm a SAINTS fan. Not a BUSH fan.

That is the difference. Some of you are Bush fans over the rest of the team. I don't give a damn about his stats. I want the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS to win.

So if you want to try and jump me in the stands because I'm mad when he screws up after three seasons in the NFL then bring it on. I've probably been a Saints fan longer than most of you Bush fanatics have been alive.

The team matters, not individual players.

Post on the post of the week!!!!

This is the truth.

Fair weather fans?????

Just because we decide to Boo someone that fumbles the ball twice!!

I cannot express myself and frustration over a bad player?

Get over yourself OP!

I have been a true fan my whole life and it has nothing to do with weather or not I decide to boo reggies stupidness!

I want to see him succeed in the worst way but when he runs more backward and sideways then forward I also want to see someone else with the ball.

I may never have mentioned trading him to the Bengals but I have posted about possibly trading him, but that is because the way our offense is built we really do not have to have him. He is more of a fringe benefit then and important cog at this time and did I mention his 12,000,000 price tag this season! at his average 12 games a year playing time I cannot believe he is worth 1,000,000 per game, or at least he wasn't worth it against the lowly LIONS this last week.

The people who bash bush do nothing more than look at a YPC average. Oh its only 3.8, this guy did 4.0 so he is obviously better..

You guys have absolutely no clue the VALUE that Reggie Bush brings to this offense. He should not be measured by Stats, at least not be anyone who claims to know anything about football.

Ask any coach or player in the league if they would rather have a 4.0 ypc running back, or reggie bush.

The argument, in its essence, is not over Bush, but over the expectation for a # 2 choice in the first round versus the reality. If he had been taken in the 3rd or 4th round, this infinite argument would not be occuring.

Keep in mind, this will be his 4th year in the pros. It is really all about production now isn't it, regardless of any other points to be made on either side. Ask yourself the question, dispassionately. Has he produced like a # 2 pick of the first round?

Let's go back to 1989 and move forward.

1989 #2 overall pick - Tony Mandarich, LT - Mega-bust
1990 - Blair Thomas, RB - Bust
1991 - Eric Turner, DB - 30 INTs, 3 TDs, 2 Pro Bowls, 1 All-Pro
1992 - Quentin Coryatt, LB - Bust
1993 - Rick Mirer, QB - Bust
1994 - Marshall Faulk, RB
1995 - Tony Boselli, LT - 5 Pro Bowls, 3 All-Pros
1996 - Kevin Hardy, LB - 562 tackles, 36 sacks, 5 INTs, 9 FF, 7 FR, 1 Pro Bowl, 1 All-Pro
1997 - Darrell Russell, DT - Bust
1998 - Ryan Leaf, QB - Mega-bust
1999 - Donovan McNabb, QB
2000 - LaVar Arrington, LB - 335 tackles, 23.5 sacks, 3 INTs, 6 FF, 7 FR, 3 Pro Bowls, 0 All-Pros
2001 - Leonard Davis, LT - moved to RG, 2 Pro Bowls, 0 All-Pros
2002 - Julius Peppers, DE
2003 - Charles Rogers, WR - Bust
2004 - Robert Gallery, LT - moved to LG, 0 Pro Bowls, 0 All-Pros
2005 - Ronnie Brown, RB - 3,476 rushing yards, 4.4 YPC, 23 TDs, 1,161 receiving yards, 8.3 YPC, 2 TDs, 1 Pro Bowl, 0 All-Pros
2006 - Reggie Bush, RB - 1,564 rushing yards, 3.7 YPC, 12 TDs, 1,654 receiving yards, 7.6 YPC, 10 TDs, 509 PR yards, 9.4 YPR, 4 PR TDs, 0 Pro Bowls, 0 All-Pros
2007 - Calvin Johnson, WR - 2,177 receiving yards, 16.9 YPC, 16 TDs
2008 - Chris Long, DE - 4 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, 0 Pro Bowls, 0 All-Pros
2009 - Jason Smith, LT - undetermined

Busts - 7 (Mandarich, Thomas, Coryatt, Mirer, Russell, Leaf, Rogers)
Busts at their original position - 2 (Davis, Gallery)
(Potential) HOFers - 4 (Boselli, Faulk, McNabb, Peppers)
Good players - 5 (Turner, Hardy, Arrington, Brown, Johnson)
Disregarded due to lack of experience - 2 (Long, Smith)

The breakdown is 9 good-to-great players and 9 busts or busts at their drafted position. Look at the list of names and what they contributed and figure out for yourself where Bush belongs. It should be obvious but I'm sure some will come to the same conclusion they already had.

But what about RBs? Blair Thomas and Ronnie Brown are the only other RBs in the last 21 years taken #2 overall.

Bush - 39 games, 1,564 rushing yards, 3.7 YPC, 12 TDs, 1,654 receiving yards, 7.6 YPC, 8 TDs, 509 PR yards, 9.4 YPR, 4 PR TDs, 15 fumbles, 24 total TDs
Thomas - 64 games, 2,236 rushing yards, 4.2 YPC, 7 TDs, 513 receiving yards, 7.2 YPC, 2 TDs, 8 fumbles, 1 passing TD, 10 total TDs
Brown - 52 games, 3,476 rushing yards, 4.4 YPC, 23 TDs, 1,161 receiving yards, 8.3 YPC, 2 TDs, 9 fumbles, 1 passing TD, 26 total TDs

Bush has already doubled Thomas' number of TDs in 2 fewer years and while he isn't as good a rusher as Thomas or Brown, he is the better receiver and the only returner among them. I'd say Bush is much closer to Brown than Thomas.

What about that guy Faulk?

OK lets not bring that up!

He's listed under Potential HOFers, which he will surely be. Do I really need to post his numbers for people to know he was great?

What about the rest of it? Nothing to say? That's what I thought.

Yeah, let's bash on Reggie because he's not as good as Faulk. :covri:

nope so he is like Gallery or Davis cuz he is a bust at RB!

Just like they are not LT in the NFL!

Fail! with that weak crap!

Yes, you do fail. Quite often.

Compare him to the only bust RB on the list, Blair Thomas. He's outperformed Thomas in 2 fewer years.

But don't let facts mess with your irrationality.

If you're such a saints fan, why can't you realize what Reggie Bush has done for the team on and OFF the field.

Reggie muffed two punts and his first live action, woopty doo! Bush is still one of the most lethal return men in the game.

The offense is a passing offense which benefits Reggie more than any other running back on our team. I can't even really think of who is better at receiving out the backfield in the NFL.

And NO! You shouldn't boo a SAINTS(not just Reggie like you say..) player regardless of what he does at the Dome. Disrespectful to the team and player.

There's more to it than that though. You can bet that when Reggie screws up, I'm standing on my feet cursing at him through my TV screen. I do the same thing when any player messes up...whether it's Reggie, Bullocks, or even Brees.

What I don't do...is hate that player and disparage them at every given opportunity. Their still our players. They're still playing their hearts out for our team. They're doing the best they can...and I will continue to cheer for them until the point when my voice gives out.

However, the anti-Reggie minority on here (Yes, it's a minority, look at any poll.) They seem to hold a permanent grudge against him. If he does well it's "just wait until next week" and when he does poorly we get 100 "I told you he's terrible" threads. A lot of people are unable to focus on both the good and the bad, and tend to center on one or the other.

I'm sure it doesn't help AT ALL that Reggie plays in footballs greatest offense 3 years running. No chance that could EVER effect his TD totals, right?

The TD's are fools gold. Of course he has alot of them. His offense is constantly at the goal line, no thanks to him.

That same offense also has multiple guys who cut into each other's TD numbers. I'm sure that also has no effect. He also doesn't even get many goalline carries so his TDs are coming from plays outside the 5.

But it's good to know he doesn't help at all. Trade him for a case of soda!
