Did Brees tell Winston it was his team now? (1 Viewer)

Seriously, it's my opinion...it can't be right or wrong.
Not commenting on y’all’s conversation, but this part made me double take
I don’t understand how/why ‘opinion’ became this magical home base where rhetoric and logic aren’t allowed in

if an opinion is built on a flawed assumption, how would you classify the opinion?
(and again, I’m not saying your opinion is/isn’t sound, I just want us to demystify ‘opinion’)

There's no way that Winston plays for anything less than full starter money. There's zero motivation for Winston to sign with us unless it's for full compensation with the inside track to be the starter.

Can you explain how you arrived at this conclusion? I just can’t get there. JW played for league Min this season because he didn’t have any substantial offers... in addition, when an opportunity came up, the team picked someone else. Now, we can explain that away but what there says he will get a $25mm plus contract??

Except for the fact that no one is going to pay him starter money?

So is he just going to retire?

What do you think?

People who are not for Winston are going to create a narrative that he's not the guy but Payton has said he was (like he said he would play Hill) that the starter is in the building and that he sees Winston has a capable heir.

Drew Brees in this video pretty much confirms in this video by confirming it's on him now to lead this team

When did Payton say "Winston " was the guy ?? Show me . He may have said he liked him and he's smart but not "He's the Guy" You're hearing what you want to hear

You do realize that he was kept on the bench for the same reason Ruiz was playing guard instead of center, right? No OTAs, no preseason games, no live action before the first game of the season. Logically you go with the guy who's been in your system for years over the guy who just came from an absolute shirtshow of a franchise. You're the one rationalizing. I can look at the games and see that the defense playing absolutely out of their minds is what led to a 3-1 record against the softest stretch of the schedule.

Very elaborate.

That shirtshow is on it's way to the conference Championship. The only real change they made was ditching Winston.

Winston was the one in practice all season training with the playbook and running the plays with the offense to back up Brees while Taysom was off practicing every other position except QB and learning his limited install at QB each week.

Payton, who said the decision was a close one, picked the guy who never started a game and dabbles in the QB position over the 5-year vet, pro bowler, 2019 passing yard leader, Heisman winner, college champion who has been practicing the playbook each week with the offense as his only responsibility.

I thought Jameis was this mythical QB with the magic arm and near-genius football mind who just needed the QB whisperers on the Saints to polish his diamond talents.

JW's experience, arm, practice time, titles and mind were not enough to win this battle with an Undrafted Free Agent utility player who "Will Never Be A Starting QB In The NFL" and had not thrown a TD pass since college almost 4 years ago?

OK, you've convinced me.

Too much seafood is my guess. I hear there is a lot of mercury in crab legs.

it looked to me like he was saying he saved 15% on his car insurance

Well now, maybe, based on the Brittney Brees' injury report (twitter) on her husband, perhaps Drew was telling Jameis, "I thought I could beat these bums on my death bed, guess I shoulda sat this one out and let you pounce on your old Bucs".
:kgo-004:

24 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, and 3,576 yards for a 9-7 team does not exactly jump off the page to me as a guy "arching up as a franchise QB." The bottom line is, he was an inconsistent player and nowhere near the prolific 5,000+ yard record breaking QB he turned out to be. None of us saw that coming, and even Loomis and Payton would admit that themselves.

Talent is Talent, Parcells even steered Payton towards Brees (not saying Payton didn't have an eye on him) when he took over the Saints, Parcells saw a player who showed an ability and that's what J.Winston has shown...an ability.

Payton is not looking for a QB that IS the Team, he's looking for one that can LEAD a Team which means execute an offense get the ball where it needs to be and let the play makers around hi

Damn, you sound shaken by that comment.

Let's just let it go.

People seem to forget that Brees was Jameis before coming to the Saints. Brees was even benched for Doug Flutie.
This is an absurd statement & insulting to Drew Brees:
Why?
- Drew’s CHARACTER & CONDUCT HAS NEVER BEEN QUESTIONED.

Shameis:
- Accused of sexual misconduct at least 2 separate times:
1 - Rape while @ Florida State
2 - Sexually grabbing an Uber/Lyft Driver

BOTH HAVE POLICE REPORTS.

Deal with the FACTS PEOPLE.

Maybe you should read the police report then...

Thank you for providing the reports, but the contents of the reports are not my concern. My concern is that a person compared Brees to Jameis. 2 different people with two COMPLETELY different risk tolerance & avoidance levels.

I do believe Jameis is older and deserves more chances. He does seem like a fun guy on the sidelines, but he just seems sketchy by LEADERSHIP STANDARDS.

That is all.
