Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary]

WR room was crowded before Adams trade. Who will be the odd man out, Gipson or Wilson? Maybe offer the Jets a 7th for one of them?

No way it's Wilson. He's their best guy. I would say it's Mike Williams that gets pushed out. He's been struggling.

Wasn't against trading for Tae but not taking on that whole contract. Good luck Jets. Lots of mouths to feed on that offense now

Salary untouched, we were never going to do it outside of that. Wonder if we'll spend money on Tee Higgins next year. Amari Cooper may be an option too, he's in purgatory w/ Browns right now.

It says Any of the following, and lists the parameters..

Yeah, I see that now. It's written kind of strange.

Anyway, what would be really funny is if he gets All-pro based on reputation, they miss the playoffs, pay a 2nd round pick for him, and then he refuses to sign a new contract with them.

I know Higgins is playing for a contract, but he's looking really good. It looks like his game has evolved. OTOH, there is a Higgins at Iowa St. who is about the same size and looks like a good draft option.

Now w/ Olave having another concussion he maeks more sense in that you likely let Olave walk.

Agreed. As much as I like Olave, his concussion history is a problem. He probably should retire but if he doesn't you can't give him a long contract.

But, it does free up money for an opportunity to get a bigger WRs to pair with Shaheed. Olave and Shaheed are a bit redundant as finesse guys. Although Olave obviously can do more and run the full route tree.

The cash equivalent value of the 80th pick (first pick in the 3rd round) is around $2.8 million. The Jets are going to pay Adams about $11 million this year and lose that $2.8 miilion pick value. If he plays well, it could go up into the second round raising the pick value. If the team plays well, it also lowers the Jets overall pick values when they are unlikely to make the playoffs anyway.

This is why the Jets are the Jets. I'm glad we didn't make that trade because it could have been even worse for us with all of money shuffling we'd have had to do it.
No doubt. I'm glad we didn't do it the way that was drawn up. Looks like Loomis thought the same here. He wasn't gonna take Adams' full remains salary this season and probably was the sticking point in the negotiations. I'm no fan of Loomis, but he was right not to do this deal. Phew.
