That's the thing about science. It doesn't matter whether you believe or don't believe.

If there is evidence that these adverse reactions have occurred in a statistically significant portion of the population, there will be documented evidence to support that.

Also, I'd like to point out that there is a difference between "side effects" and "adverse reactions" that may be relevant to your interests. Here's a good explanation breaking down the difference and why it's relevant to this discussion: https://www.iwpharmacy.com/blog/side-effect-vs.-adverse-event

So your experience is that people who didn't get vaccinated believe they were right?

Do you think that is statistically relevant in any way?

People will believe credible links. That's not what you've posted. We can't even find the slide you posted in the 8 hour video you posted. Can you?

From a personal, anecdotal standpoint, I will freely admit to you that after every single Covid vaccine I've gotten except the first one, I've had an adverse reaction. I get fever, chills, extreme fatigue, and a splitting headache. It basically feels like I have the flu for about a day to a day and a half. This has happened for me for the first booster, the second booster, and the bivalent booster. It's like clockwork - I can count on it. I don't look forward to it. It's really uncomfortable.

It also isn't in any way dangerous (because there's no real disease), and I haven't gotten COVID yet. So the tradeoff is still probably worth it to me.

I will also tell you that last month, I had an adverse reaction to Bactrim DS, an antibiotic. This drug, and its generic sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim, has been approved for use since the 1960s, and is on the WHO's list of essential medicines due to how effective it is as an antibiotic for a wide range of bacteria and parasites. It's been proven time and time again to be a completely safe, helpful drug.

However, this antibiotic that's been used for over 50 years, for all kinds of infections, put me in the hospital twice last month. I had the following adverse effects:
  • Rash over my whole body
  • Fever of 103 degrees
  • Headache
  • Thrombocytopenia (I'm throwing in the scary sounding ones, too!)
  • Arthralgia
  • Extreme dehydration
  • Kidney damage
  • Immune system suppression
How could this drug that has been safe for so many people for so many years be so dangerous for me? Am I allergic to the drug?

Well, actually no. With the exception of maybe the rash, these symptoms are not how allergies present. No, it's simply the interaction of this particular drug with my particular physiology that doesn't work. It's now a documented drug I can't take because I'm particularly sensitive to it, for whatever reason.

Does that mean the drug is now no longer safe and should be pulled from the shelves for everyone in the world? Of course not. It's a safe, reliable, and effective drug for almost everyone in almost every case. But every drug has a chance of adverse reaction for a particular individual. It's just the nature of all drugs, including Tylenol, ibuprofen, chemotherapy, and COVID vaccines.

My personal anecdote is statistically insignificant, even if it actually happened, and was documented two separate times last month, proving I couldn't tolerate the drug. My personal anecdotes about my reactions to COVID vaccines are also statistically insignificant, even if they actually happened, and I can get consistently repeatable results every time I take the vaccine.

It doesn't matter. My personal physiological difficulties with the drugs just don't outweigh the overall benefits for pretty much everyone else, either in the case of Bactrim, or in the case of COVID vaccines.
Great post. I have nothing to add except my niece is the same way with amoxicillin. It was discovered when
she was a child. She was prescribed it by her pediatrician for an ear infection. Her reaction caused an ER
visit, and an overnight stay in the hospital.

She is now an RN,and not screaming online for amoxicillin to be banned because she was one in a million
who had a bad reaction to it.

This is what happens when every shred of everything anyone has ever said is posted online. A 9 hour presentation would naturally have a million things to point to and critique.
Yeah, it's weird. Of all things to pick is a slide that wasn't actually used, appeared for less than half a second and had zero context. Baffling.

Indeed. It's why medical staff always asks if you're allergic to any meds. Those meds obviously help a lot of people, but somehow, Covid vaccines which have proven to be as safe, if not safer than other vaccines and medicines on the market. It's just an irrational approach people take to vaccines because some conspiracy nuts think the government is out to get them.

Garbage in, garbage out I guess.

My mom had an allergic reaction once to an antibiotic when she got an infection from her knee surgey. She got Dress Syndrome.
But she didn't go crazy and stop using all antibiotics over it. Sometimes that happens with medication, everyone's body reacts different to medications ( and even the foods we eat).

Any word on when the updated booster is coming out? I'm starting to travel a lot more and would like to not catch this latest round of garbage.

It really should be pinpointed better by flipping September 6th ... but the new 2023 booster is supposed to be imminent:

I like a small few here am anti-covid vaccine. Now do I think the people getting are crazy, hell no. I was for my mom and in-laws getting it. They are over weight and unhealthy. They were the "target demographic" dying from it. My wife and I decided to risk it and not going to get it. We felt we were healthy enough to survive an attach. I have had covid twice. First time ran fever for a week and smelled smoke for a month. Second time didnt know I had it. Just so happened to have a doc appointment after getting over a sore throat. Had a spike in my blood work. Doc said it either meant I had covid or was pregnant. Well Im a guy so that ruled out one option.

I have only known 3 people to be severely affected by covid.
1. Older friend of the family. He wasnt the healthiest of people. He caught it before the vaccine was available. Unfortunately he died with/from covid.
2. Good friend of mine. 45 really out of shape. He was in the hospital at deaths door for 2 weeks before recovering. It shook him so bad that he, his wife and kids got the shot. They have not received boosters. They are all fine
3. My neighbor and his wife are in their 50s some what active/workout. They had friends get severely sick and decided to get the shot. 2 weeks after he went into the hospital and docs to his wife to prepare for him to not make it. They didnt know if the shot caused it or what happened. Luckily he was able to pull through but still suffers from after affects.

I dont have a problem with people getting the shot to help them stay safe. My problem is the government out right lying about it being a vaccine and it being nothing more than a flu shot. They are on TV saying those that get the shot will not get covid and that has been proven false. Where I am skeptical is it was new. We dont know the affects it will have. It should not be forced on people that want to risk the virus. That is where the problem is for me. For the government to force something on people with out knowing the risk is scary to me.

Don't tell anyone, but the flu shot is a vaccine.

I don't have too much of an issue with you comments up to this point. It's the below i have issues with.

Cite your sources. Who said this and when?
They are on TV saying those that get the shot will not get covid and that has been proven false.
Whoever said this would be wrong. No creditible source has said this. Certainly not the FDA or CDC.

Where I am skeptical is it was new. We dont know the affects it will have. It should not be forced on people that want to risk the virus. That is where the problem is for me. For the government to force something on people with out knowing the risk is scary to me.
This has been discussed ad nauseum in this and other threads. The type of vaccines used for Covid have been around and studied for over a decade iirc. And vaccines in general have been around for a century. The possible adverse effects have been known for years. Covid essentially forced the FDA to speed up the timeline to get the vaccines to market, yet they still had to go through months of rigorous testing before being made available to the public.

So, the argument that the risks weren't or aren't known is simply an ignorant assertion. There's no truth to this.

And no one was forced to get vaccinated. The fact is, we all had a choice. I'd argue the choice is an easy one, but still a choice.

I honestly don’t remember anyone said that if you get the covid shot, you won’t get Covid.
However, we are conditioned to believe that something actually occurred when they actually didn’t when those things kept getting pounded into our heads.

My neighbor said that they said on TV that Covid vaccine would keep me from getting Covid. A couple of YouTube videos, a few Facebook posts, several twitter typists said that they said on TV Covid vaccine would keep me from getting Covid. A few news channels said that they said on the other channels Covid vaccine would keep me from getting Covid.

Me: they said on TV that Covid vaccine will keep me from getting Covid.
