Arrow - Spoilers galore (2 Viewers)

The Atom!!! This should be interesting!

I'm not sure how this will work. I just can't see a guy who can shrink himself coming off as anything but hokey considering the normal tone of the show. I trust the show-runners, though, so it will be interesting to see how they handle Atom.

The producers have pretty explicitly said that he won't be shrinking down. Even though Arrow and The Flash take place in a shared universe where super powers like that now exist, that would definitely be something more suited to the latter, where blatant super humans are the order of the day. With Arrow, the closest to that territory they've gotten is the Mirakuru.

So if he isn't going to shrink down, I'm interested in seeing what they do. It should be noted that they were originally going to use Ted Kord/Blue Beetle for this role but then changed it to Ray Palmer at the last minute. Since Blue Beetle is a tech based hero, I wonder if they go that direction and just have it as a powered exo suit? I also find it interesting that the Queen Consolidated blueprints Palmer was looking at earlier in the season had "OMAC" on them.

From what I have read, they have only said he won't be shrinking anytime soon.

They have teased that Atom will be a tech themed vigilante, like they intended for Beetle. My guess right now is that maybe just the exoskeleton shrinks so that Ray can easily carry it and deploy it anytime.

Yeah, I really enjoyed both parts of it. And I liked how they handled the tonal differences of each show, with the Flash crew being pretty shocked at how dour and soul sucking a place Starling City is. I also like that it seemed like Barry got through to Oliver re: having humanity left in him and being able to inspire people not as the Arrow but as himself. Ollie been kind of a bummer this season, but it looks like that may be kind of a turning point. The producers have said that they wanted the crossover to have some lasting narrative effects and not just be for the hell of it, so hopefully it sticks and gives him a little bit more of a mission statement outside of the hood.

Wow. So, um, how do you come back from that?

Lazarus Pit.

Maybe they do something else, but that's just the most obvious answer when Ra's Al Ghul is involved. Supposedly the next three or four episodes after they come back from hiatus will follow Laurel becoming Black Canary, but he'll be back sooner rather than later.

That's what I said to my wife...I hope they don't jump the shark with some miraculous resurrection.

Well, with Ra's, the Lazarus Pit is definitely in play. Maybe Maseo brings him? Ra's has no reason to. I think the stories they tell while Ollie is "dead" could be interesting. Black Canary, more Arsenal, Atom, and they better address it on The Flash.

I was still typing my response when you posted.

I think Lazarus Pit is predictable. I hope they find another way, but it makes the most sense.

I do think it was cool they let Oliver get pretty much dominated by Ra's. Great fight scene.

Watching season 3 of Supernatural again. I like how Katie Cassidy played the role of Ruby. Hoping to see her have a similar vibe when she becomes the Black Canary and hoping to see it show more when she is Laurel.

Hmm. While I did think it proper that Ollie get taken to task, I thought it was a lousy fight scene. Ollie looked like a spazz for most of it and from the very beginning. That's not how it should have looked. It should have looked like Ra's Al-Ghul had amazing moves. Instead, he mostly stood there while Ollie swatted around as if he'd never handled a sword before. Terrible and highly disappointing choreography for what should have been an epic fight sequence. Is the Ra's actor simply no good at fight scenes?

We all know Stephen Amell was hired more for his excellent physical skills and stunt ability than for his mediocre acting skills, so why on earth stage him looking amateurish in what is a pivotal scene to the series? He should have been at the top of his game, but Ra's just better. It should have been a fight sequence for the ages. Instead, it was a lame effort because they had Ollie look goofy instead of Ra's look amazing. The director and the fight choreographer should have been fired after the producers/studio saw the finished product.

From what I have read, it was the actor who plays Ra's who couldn't keep up and that kind of made a mess of the fight. Amell forced into bad choreography and a bad job at hiding stunt doubles for Ra's hurt the scene for sure. I still liked the episode and the twist though.

This seems the likeliest explanation, as the show usually has very good fight choreography for a TV show.
