Arrow - Spoilers galore (1 Viewer)

Overall not bad (especially since both Arrow and The Flash tend to skimp on costumes. The Flash in particular is bad about just slapping a somewhat-similar-to-the-comics jacket on most villains and calling it a day. Still love it, though.) but the fully visible face makes very little sense for a vigilante. Especially one who also happens to be a super rich, highly notable tech mogul. Maybe he just doesn't give a **** who sees his face.

I would assume the visor doesn't always stay clear and can darken to hide his identity.

Either way, looks decent, especially on a CW budget.

Liked tonight's episode, but really thought Oliver's return should have been more climactic. And now, Felicity has become as annoying as Laurel ever was.

Could not agree more.

So is Oliver immortal now? Or no Lazarus Pit?

They're apparently going with the explanation that he didn't actually die, but that the freezing cold weather kept his blood loss low and put him into a near death coma.

I find that to be a rather cheese ball explanation, especially considering how far that fall off the cliff was. If getting stabbed didn't do him in, the fall most certainly would have shattered every bone in his body. So either they're saving the reveal for later, or that's the actual explanation. There have certainly been less plausible things happen in comic books and comic book properties over the years, so it won't stop be from liking the show, but it's still not great writing.

Anyway, I thought the Brick stuff got wrapped up way too quick. Everything about this last episode felt rushed. There was some good stuff in it (I lol'd at Cpt. Lance immediately knowing that Arsenal was Roy and Roy sheepishly turning off his voice distortion device), but overall it seemed like they tried to do too much in too little time and nothing got the time to breathe it deserved.

And I'll be honest: I get that they need narrative conflict, but Felicity not understanding or not caring about the magnitude of threat Ra's al Ghul and the League possess and whining incessantly about Oliver violating his code was a little grating. Especially after he had literally moments before convinced Malcolm not to kill Brick.

I did like the little speech to the city, though. The transition from vengeance to vigilante to outright hero is a slow march, but it was another step to him eventually being Green Arrow.

All good points, as usual. I think Ra's is the main villain this season and Brick was just something for Roy and Team Arrow to deal with while Ollie was away, while leading to his return. It wasn't perfectly executed, and I hated the Felicity turn.

That said, I still love this show. I like the fast pace. Payoff does not take long. We all knew Oliver would be back. I agree it was kinda lame, but everyone said it would be by Lazarus Pit, so I'm OK that it wasn't.

I think if the rest of the season focusses on Ra's failing to kill Oliver, and his mission to rectify that, I would be cool with that.

So here's something that I have mixed feelings about:

Fans of Green Lantern, Arrow, and David Ramsey have long speculated that John Diggle may actually be John Stewart.

The fan theory is that when Diggle was in the military, he changed his name (for whatever reason).

Now it's learned that the theory might not be too far off as David Ramsey has confirmed there are talks that Diggle might become Green Lantern.

Ramsey confirms the Green Lantern possibility in a recent interview (via Screen Rant):

I thought tonights episode was very good. I especially liked the part when the team stood their ground. I am also glad Thea finally knows the truth.

OK, I have a question. Why is she fighting with a night stick? Is this what her character uses in the comics?

Agree, but does anyone else think she took it a little too well? Or is it just me? I'm also wondering about this turn against Merlyn. It seems a little sudden too.

Perhaps to differentiate from Sara somewhat?

This last episode was really good. I was very happy that League of Assassins DJ Bro died, although I would have preferred Merlyn put an arrow in his head because wow was he hateable. The last couple of episodes have gone a long way towards resolving a lot of issues I've had with this season.

Re: Thea taking it *too* well, this has crossed my mind, too, and it's certainly plausible that there's something else going on. However, I'm mostly just reading it as her past anger at Oliver for his lies and failures came from a place where she genuinely believed he was just a loser and screw up who could never get it right, and seeing that it was really because of the fact that he's The Arrow made her retroactively re-evaluate everything for the better.

Something else: over the last two episodes, I've noticed that some characters are pronouncing it "Raysh Al Ghul" while others are pronoucing it "Rahz Al Ghul." I find this funny, as this is a very old debate amongst comic fans. For what it's worth, there's not really a right answer. It would be pronounced closer to the latter in Arabic and closer to the former in Hebrew. Denny O'Neil, who created the character, always intended it to be "Raysh," but plenty of DC media has used "Rahz" over the years, too. Just wondering if that was intentional on their part or just the actors reading it differently.
