Comic Book Talk (2 Viewers)

did not bother reading. shi and sgt. rock are the only two worth reading.

Con in Raleigh.

Oh, I am jealous. I just checked out the guests. There are probably no less than 10 people that I'd liked to meet and get an autograph. Enjoy!

It was pretty awesome. Cosplay contest is tonight.

Got a chance to chat with Peter David as well. He's an interesting figure. Guess you have to considering all that he's written.

So there was this mini panel with DC writers Tom King, Tim Seely, and Sam Humphries. That was some funny sheet. King made some serious fun of himself with Batman #50. He remembered me from my criticism of him on Twitter. Chatted with me on the side and pretty much confirmed he was forced to write 50 the way it was, which is probably the worse kept secret in comics.

Did you get any other autographs?

Found a lot of nice sheet in $1 boxes too.

Mike Grell is supposed to be at Geek'd Con in Shreveport next month. Really hoping to get my Longbow Hunters trade signed. I don't want a repeat of me missing out on George Perez a few years ago (the line was too long and he was doing sketches and it was taking forever, so I bounced for a while and when I came back they were no longer issuing numbers. Still pissed about it to this day. And then Perez drastically reduced his con schedule after that due to age and health, so that might've been my only shot.)

Yeah. Getting to meet Perez these days is almost like finding a needle in a haystack. So much stuff I would like for him to sign.

Ron Lim is the same way. Outside of SDCC and Terrificon in Connecticut, you never no where he'll pop up until he does.

I wish I could've met Jim Aparo was well before he passed. His art was so good.

So who's ready for the return of the Fantastic Four tomorrow?

I watched the new Death of Superman animated movie last night. It was pretty good, but I can't say that I'm a fan of Jerry O'Connell as the voice of Superman. I much prefer Tim Daly. I'm anxious to see Reign of the Supermen that will follow.

These days, it seems everything Peter J. Tomasi writes is gold. He should've never been taken off of Superman, but I'm very excited to see his run on Detective Comics.

Yes, Tomasi is good. It was pretty faithful to the original comics storyline, so the groundwork was already laid out for him. It did feel a little hurried, though. I know the DC animated movies aren't usually really long, but this is a story that I wish they had fleshed out a bit more.

Agreed. At least they're giving us two parts to flesh out his return, unlike the first time in Superman: Doomsday.

Speaking of Tomasi... He was in New Orleans a month or so ago at the American Library Association's annual conference promoting his book The Bridge. I had just missed him. I did not miss him at Boston Comic-Con last year though. He's a really cool guy.
